Israel’s Minister of Culture Miri Regev and Knesset member Yaakov Peri visited the Ohel of the Rebbe in the Old Montefiore Cemetary in Queens, NY, Sunday.
“We just landed in New York and I thought it would be appropriate to begin the visit on erev Rosh Chodesh with a request and a prayer,” Regev said on a video posted to her social media.
Regev, Peri and their staff were welcomed by Hebrew-speaking Chabad bochurim Mendel Aizenbach and Moishy Wolf. They began with watching a video of the Rebbe and writing a personal ‘pan’ note.
Before entering the Ohel itself, Regev said held up a candle and said, “We should all succeed to live quietly in our land. I am lighting a candle and I pray that all of our prayers should be accepted.”
Regev later said that she prayed for Tovah Salomon, 68, who was seriously wounded in an Arab terror attack in midst of a Shabbos meal in Halamish, Israel. Her husband and 2 children were murdered.
Peri, former head of the Israeli security agency Shin Bet, put on Tefillin. He said he vididly remembers her interactions with the Rebbe and his care for Israel’s safety and security.

This amazing that the 1st stop of these Isreali Officials is the Rebbe’s Ohel, it shows that they care about what the Matzav is in Eretz HaKodesh & they know going to the Rebbe that the Rebbe will beseech Almighty G-d, this shows & demonstrates the utmost respect for Yiddishkeit & the Rebbe, that they know this is the 1st place to go, there is nothing greater than this for ppl who aren’t Frum, this is a Great thing, thank u for sharing this news
