Shluchim in small towns always worry before Yom Tov, especially when holidays fall on weekdays.
Will I have a minyan? Will people take off work to come to Shul? Will people show up for Yizkor? What else can I do to encourage everyone to show up?
From cheesecake parties to ice cream sundaes, to smoothies, edible har sinais, to fully catered dairy buffets, nothing is off limits when it comes to getting people through the door on Yom Tov, especially for Aseres Hadibros (the Ten Commandments).
This Shavuos most shluchim are offering fidget spinners as way of getting kids to encourage their families to attend services. This is sure to be a hit!
But in small towns which sometimes may struggle on an average Shabbos to get minyan, shavuos falling on a Wednesday and Thursday is nearly impossible.
Hence, the 5:30 or 6 pm Ten Commandments parties, giving opportunity for those who otherwise would not come to shul, to attend. And still, there are always two major worries for the small town shliach.
Will enough people show up?
How will I pay for all this? (Usually no sponsors)
Here are 6 bochurim who just want to help and offered to fly out on their own so we can have a minyan the entire time. They will keep it exciting, and the songs and prayers will be beautiful and fulfilling.
For boys coming from Crown Heights where there are literally hundreds of minaynim daily, this will be an eye opener. They will experience what the small town shluchim go through constantly and they will also see how tremendous of an impact each and everyone of them can have on a community.
Here they will realize the potential of reaching out and truly touching ones Neshama through simple everyday acts of Just being a “tamim”.
The bochurim of Chovevei Torah who are coming to Miami Lakes on Shavuos Shlichus are Mendel Moses, Yaakov Staschower, Mendel Zajac, Sruly Myhill, Moishe Golomb and Levi Konikov.
(Obviously with reshus hanhola)

What a beautiful thing you boys are doing. Living in a small town with no frum friends for my kids nearby I understand how exciting it will be for the shluchim and their family. Please, if you have spare time, instead of spending it chatting amongst yourselves, go play with the shluchim’s kids. You will be making such a difference
Hatzlacha Rabba to the Bochurim! You’re simply awesome, Moshiach Now!!

I hope other bochurim will do the same for other shluchim who can’t afford fares but really need help, like my two Shluchim. How many of you would like to eat gourmet meals & meet lots of people on Succos? Enjoy your Shavuous boys, you are very impressive. Wait till the shadchans are banging on your doors!
These boys have initiated leadership skills where people are proactive and help change the world.
Awesome idea would be if everyone sent a little maaser and convinced their friends and family also. Every little bit helps in these places and often the locals are not interested until educated.Moshiach Now!
What these bochrim are doing is amazing, Minyan that’s great but even more so the chayus that it adds to the Shliach’s personal family cannot be measured or calculated. Our children yearn and need this. i can elaborate but כן יראו וכן יעשו and may the bochrim be a true dugma chaya how we say tikun lail all night….. Bivirchas Kabalas HaTorah Bisimcha Ubipnimiyus.
I became frum through small town shluchim. They truly live modest lives and only purpose is to serve Hashem.
After moving to a big metropolitan area, with a plethora of multi million dollar shuls, donors and programs, I often think of the small town shluchim who don’t wear designer clothing, have interior decorators or round the clock cleaning help and nannies.
It would be great if successful chabad houses as you say adopt a small town chabad house and give part of their maiser from donations.
The small town shluchim are our unknown heros. The live very lonely lives, with little or no money, very little success (as success is usually understood) homeschooling kids who have no friends in real life, never knowing where the next dollar will come from, just so that one lone Jew will put on Tefillin, light Shabbos candles, or learn some Torah! This is today’s Mesiras Nefesh. It is a really amazing idea what these boys are doing. May the idea spread. And maybe the time will come where leather Chabad House will adopt a twin city with having their communities… Read more »
