As Purim was celebrated, hundreds of children of shluchim received mishloach manos from each other thanks to a program of The Shluchim Office.
With so many young shluchim living in cities and towns around the world with no other Lubavitch children anywhere nearby to whom they can give or get mishloach manos from, the Chinuch Yaldei Hashluchim (CYH) department of The Shluchim Office found a creative solution.
In the weeks before Purim hundreds of young shluchim were paired up with other children their age. Each child was paired with someone to whom they would send a mishloach manos, and with one they would receive from.
“We recognize that many children living in remote places lack a lot of the social interactions that children their age usually have. This is especially true with children who are not part of the online school. So we decided to give them unique some Purim fun,” said Mushkie Grossbaum, who organized the project this year.
Children were given shipping and mailing information and had the opportunity to prepare mishloach manos and send it. “My son really enjoyed buying the candies and wrapping the cookies, getting the envelope, addressing it, and taking it the post office,” said Rabbi Berel P., whose 8 year-old son participated.
“The smiles on my 6 children’s faces when the mail man came knocking on our door two days before Purim, holding a personal mishloach manos for each of them from other fellow shluchim around the world, is something I can not even describe” said Mrs. Rivky S. “It is one of those moments I will never forget.”
Thank you so much for everything you do for the Shluchim!
It’s amazing!
