On the eve of Beis Nissan, Chabad of Rostov is launching a special 24-hour campaign to renovate the Ohel of the Rebbe Rashab. It is well known that the Rebbe Rashab’s Ohel has fallen into serious disrepair, and the material conditions are not appropriate or respectful for the holy resting place of one of the Chabad Rebbeim.
This campaign offers a unique opportunity for everyone to share in the merit of repairing the Ohel. Every other Ohel of our Chabad Rebbeim has been repaired, and this is the final one that needs work, allowing every donor to be a part of this great mitzvah.
Head shliach Chaim Danzinger has developed a comprehensive plan for the renovation formulated by first-rate experts in the field, to improve the appearance, accessibility, safety and security of the site. Repairs will include replacing and upgrading the floors, doors, ceiling and roof; restoring the walls and adding top-grade interior and exterior surfacing; connecting to city electricity and adding heating; installing both interior and exterior lighting and security cameras.
The plans show a beautiful and dignified Ohel. The goal is to raise the funds on Beis Nissan, and complete the renovation by the 20th of Cheshvan, the Rebbe Rashab’s birthday. Organizers hope that every Lubavitcher will want to contribute, particularly families with a member bearing the name Sholom Dov Ber.

The following are quotes from our Rebbeim about the blessings that will be bestowed on those who are involved in this holy work:
In 5667 the Rebbe Rashab wrote to chassid Reb Avraham Yosef Sirkin, who raised funds for the construction of the tzion in Haditch, saying: “I was very pleased by your generosity for this good and noble endeavor, the construction of the holy edifice. Without doubt, this will be pleasing to the Alter Rebbe, and his merit will shield you and protect you from any and all misfortunes… and bring you success in all your matters. May G-d Almighty fulfill all the desires of your heart for the good, materially and spiritually.”
In the year 5672 the Rebbe Rashab wrote a letter to the wealthy philanthropist, Reb Shmuel Michel Treinan, with a request for a contribution to the improvement of the Ohel in Nizhen, and blessed him that the merit of the Mitteler Rebbe should stand him in good stead, to bring him success spiritually and materially.
On the 6th of Tishrei, 5750, after Shacharis, Reb Dovid Nachshon and his colleague Reb Avi Taub approached the Rebbe after returning from a clandestine shlichus during which they established an Ohel on the resting places of many Rebbeim throughout Russia and Ukraine, including one for the Rebbe’s father in Alma-Ata. The Rebbe asked for the key to the Ohel personally from them, and then remarked, “Fortunate is your lot, great is your reward, great is your merit, for this that you involved yourself in the Ohel of the righteous and holy Rebbeim…”
