Dangers of technology
February 25, 2017 9:16 pm

Spoken from the heart! We all need to take note what he says, and be aware of all the pitfalls of the internet etc especially for our children and grandchildren.

Filters are good for someone making a mistake. If you pressure them they will go to Manhattan with their friends. They are free ppl. Ppl have to want to do the right thing that comes from the parents. Making sure the parents don’t have style magazines, ny times etc. And obviously the parents aren’t spending wasted time online.

Sadly, Lubavitch is in DENIAL
February 23, 2017 2:51 pm

No question. We as a community. leadership, mashpiyim and our Chinuch system is in total DENIAL. Pretending there are no problems do NOT rid us of all these devastating problems. Time to take an HONEST look at what is REALLY going on.

Teenagers

There’s no way to protect teens from going around filters, that’s why they shouldn’t have any smartphone. Don’t fool yourself.

question

why should a factory reset be allowed? Is there a way to not allow that unless you have credentials/passwd.

Filters do work
February 23, 2017 11:51 am

Alex Paskie here responding. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Filters do work, depends on who does the install. I recommend letting a TAG Professional advise.

Also, filters ALONE aren’t the answer. AWARENESS is the answer. Discuss with the family, guide the family and work TOGETHER as a family.

any filter can be removed by factory reset, so just check the phone every month or so.

Great Talk!

Technology is constantly changing and kids are smarter than their parents as they have grown up in a technological generation.
Of course you will have some kids who can crack codes and break the filters but having something in place is better than nothing!
Great talk and listening and acting is a great start

Web chaver

Web Chavez works welll it sends out weekly reports of your Web browsing to your chaver and it comes with filters that work well.

excellent talk

wish we all knew this long ago before we gave our kids computers/phones. though awareness and open discussion is most important, as you say, not all children are able or ready to take this on themselves with peer pressure. most parents are also not so aware of the lasting dangers and effects.

Teenagers can easily bypass most filters
February 22, 2017 11:14 pm

Be certain that you use netsparks. There filters can’t be bypassed

Filters don't work!!!
February 22, 2017 10:47 pm

I paid good money for a highly respected filter – thinking that now my precious daughter could safely do her school work. Six months later I found out that she had restarted her computer to factory level and erased the filter and got into all the shmutz. The company refunded part of my money but let my sad story influence people to start teaching internet safety if papers must continue to be typed and researched for school! Otherwise have computer rooms in the school to do the papers like we had in the ’80s.

Thank you
