Almost 200 boys and girls gathered from all over Ukraine this past week, from the 4th-10th of Teves 5777 (2-8 January 2016), to experience winter camp in two stunning state of the art camp grounds with first class utilities such as swimming pools, tennis courts, five star accommodation and much more.
The camp was organized by youth organization Shiurei Torah Lubavitch (or STL), founded by Dan Makagon, which is a chapter of the Dnepropetrovsk Jewish community, led by Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetsky. The boys program was the third of its kind, done in partnership with Camp Yeka, which has been producing Gan Yisroel in Ukraine for over 15 years.
The theme of camp was about the struggle between the Nefesh Elokis and Nefesh HaB’hamis and its explanation through the lens of Chassidus via JLI, as well as celebrating the fifth of Teves, Didan Notzach, where they watched a Rebbe video in Russian followed by a lively and inspiring grand Farbrengen.
Throughout camp you could hear the children humming Didan Notzach, as the spirit of chassidishkeit permeated the atmosphere of Gan Yisroel.
It was not just the learning that made it special, as the children had an immensely packed day of fun with a grand trip every day, plus interactive programs at night.
At the end of camp, Hachlotos were made as the campers emotionally hugged their counselors goodbye. All in all, Gan Yisroel Yeka STL Winter may have been only for 6 days, but the inspiration and fun times will stay with the children for the rest of their lives.
A special thank-you to all of our supporters who helped make this possible.
