U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry launched a forceful defense of the Obama administration’s approach to Israel, warning that a two-state solution was in jeopardy in a speech outlining the administration’s vision for finding Middle East peace.
Mr. Kerry’s remarks on Wednesday come amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and Israel after the U.S., by refraining from using its veto in the United Nations Security Council last week, allowed a resolution critical of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem to pass.
Mr. Kerry said the U.S. decision to abstain from the vote was “in accordance with our values.”
“Some seem to believe that the U.S. friendship means the U.S. must accept any policy, regardless of our own interests, our own positions, our own words, our own principles—even after urging again and again that the policy must change,” Mr. Kerry said. “Friends need to tell each other the hard truths.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office is denouncing Secretary of State John Kerry’s Mideast policy speech, saying it was “skewed against Israel” and “obsessively” focuses on Israeli settlements.
In a statement, Netanyahu’s office says the speech “barely touched upon the root of the conflict — Palestinian opposition to a Jewish state in any boundaries.”
In his speech, Kerry warned that Israel’s continued construction of settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem are undermining hopes for the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.

Israel is Eretz Yisroel — the land given to the Jewish people by G-d, back in the days of Abraham. Over the years, others have “occupied” the land, “settled” there, and decided the land is theirs. But, it is not. It belongs to the Jewish people, as anyone who reads the Chumash (aka the Bible) reads and sees that, black on white! The Palestinians — I’m not sure where they come from, but they did not own this land. They are a problem to the world, because they have no home, and any money that the world pours in for… Read more »
What is sad is the way you deliberately misrepresent the situation. First of all, the Arab countries have far stricter laws against Jews, then Israel does with the territories. Second, In America (and probably in most other countries) criminals are not allowed to vote (or at least that was the law, years ago, perhaps the Anti American liberals might have changed it.). Those who call themselves “Palestinians” are not and never were any kind of separate race or even an ethnicity, separate from other Arabs living in places like Jordan and Egypt. So they are not living on any kind… Read more »
Rabbi Meir Kahane expressed the same sentiment, that Israel could be either Jewish or democratic but not both. Democracy implies a will and equality of the people – Torah Judaism relies on the will and law of Hashem. May we be zoche to greet moshiach immediately, and have a THEOCRACY in Israel (with Hashem as ruler)!
And this, friends, is why the status quo is what it is. The “greater Israel” side, the “one state” side, sees nothing wrong with having a state where a sizable portion of the population are not allowed to vote. They are, instead, to be grateful to be allowed to live in that ‘one state’, despite having no representation in the running of that state. At least, not one-man, one-vote representation. What to we call that? Ask South Africa. I believe it’s call apartheid. Oh, they will be given representation, you say? Then, I say, Israel will quickly lose it’s Jewish… Read more »
He articulated Emes, now he must stand strong. Those who wish to will recognize these facts. The rest don’t care about truth, honesty & justice anyway. We need to follow Hashem’s will for us regardless!
To #2 He is wrong and his analysis to very disputable. For one thing, he said that a sovereign Palestinian (a name stolen from the Jews, along with all the land they stole from the Jews) would cooperate with Israel to fight against terrorism. The leaders of the territories ARE the terrorists. Everything he said about Israel’s future security under his plan, was nothing more then his ‘promises’. He wants Israel to give in now, based on empty promises for the future. How well has that worked out for Israel in the past? Not very well at all. He also… Read more »
8 years ago America voted by color. That is not a racist statement. It is a fact. And because of the PC media he could get away with what others would not. Everyone was afraid to be called a racist. Face it America. That is the truth. And now he shows his true colors. As a young man B.H.B. wrote a book Dreams from my father. In this video, listen to him read an excerpt from 7 min 54 seconds and you’ll see his obsession in which he lives with always. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHPtgZb-_Fg
There can never be a two state solution. One cannot have a state run by two leaders. Look in Tanya! However we are in Golus and do not have control over anything. Eretz Yisroel will not be ours truly until Moshiach comes. Yes we have to do our very best to protect it and safeguard it, as the Rebbe said, not give any of it away, but we also have to accept that we don’t have any control over it and as long as we are in Golus, it will never have peace and won’t be “ours” according to the… Read more »
so tell me, if it’s such a good plan for israel,
then why do most Yiddin and the IDF IN ISRAEL think it’s suicidal?
ah! Kerry and Obama know better!
got it.
…then you have to believe that, an arab terrorist in training has equal rights to have a house in israel, and is as legitimate as the right of a jewish farmer, to own a farm in israel. because that is only the beginning of what Moron Kery’s moral equivalent rant affectively means, wake up man! so tell me, how did the Gush Kattif (now Hamas rocket launch terror base) peace solution work out for you? instead of praying for rain, now jewish farmers pray for rockets coming from their old farms to stop raining over their heads. gosh, use some common… Read more »
Kerry has finally said something true.
With 2 states there will be terror and death.
So we don’t want that. And without 2 states – the Arabs will not be given citizenship or voting rights. It is not ideal from a politically correct perspective – but it will allow Jews to live and not die – and to live in a country where they can be citizens and design the culture of the country,
The Arabs without citizenship could always go to an Arab country if they will feel more comfortable. Or they can stay and prosper in peace.
There’s no Lubavitch internet, like it or not. Live with it.
Didn’t the Rebbe say NOT to give away even an inch of land! Let alone the amount in the resolution like the model?!?!
So go hak a baitz somewhere else and remember how the Rebbe spoke about this topic!
KERRY SHOULD EAT HIS, (OR IS IT OBAMA’S WORDS)
BE A MAN, BOTH OF YOU LIERS AND GO LIVE AMONGST THE PALISTINIENS FIRST.
THEN WILL SEE HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THEM, IF YOU WILL STILL BE ALIVE.
isn’t it time for some tehillim cycles to be started?
A Bushe to you that you can’t tolerate a conflicting opinion just because doesn’t fit in 100% with your perception of the world.
england is officialy christian, so obviously not a democracy
So I suppose that the Arab state he wants to set up will be democratic and not moslem. Or moslem and not democratic. What a fool.
May those 2 roshoim Obama & Kerry be among those other’s who stood against the jews in the story chanukah & purim – the Haman of our generation
idk if ur trying to be funny or sarcastic- but listen up:
if the jews dont have a state of their own- that gives way to another holocaust. Not only that, the arabs have more than 3 other countries they can run to: syria, iraq, saudi arabia, iran, and even jordan (which originally belonged to israel btw)
Moshiach Times!!!
So true Torah is in charge! over democracy!
Fortunately democratic rule has followed some parts of Torah! For example each person can defend himself…
But not in alternative lifestyle Rights etc…
Yes! Kerry is right! Does anyone even listen to the full speech? Obama has been a true friend of Israel. More $$ and military aid to Israel than ANY previous administration. If you want a JEWISH Israel, you have to support a two-state resolution.
Am L.vadod Yishkon
Time to stop worrying about what others say about us
Hey if you are going to pick that argument for your fight (can’t be both Jewish and democratic state) go serve it to our neighbors who are choosing to be Muslim thus highly anti democratic. Seriously you couldn’t find a different point!! Such a joke that kerry. Go light the menorah again…
Kerry is pulling the old ‘dual loyalties’ line.
However, Israel, a Jewish state, offers equal rights to all regardless of religion; and so do European states that are Christian.
A Bushe to you for putting in comment #2
Kerry promises there will be provisions for Israels security with a pali state.
What security can there be when they can import all the missles and hamas fighters they want, as a sovereign state?
Side note, there is an ad on this page for the ASPCA, which proposes antisemitic laws against kashrus for the animals.
They also support unconstitutional pro animal, laws.
mit aleh andere sonei Yisroel
He said if there is one state then it “can either be Jewish or democratic”.
Small detail you left out
Obama’s move against Israel is anti-Semitism to the core. With nothing to lose Obama is showing his true self. There is no other side to this other than the desire to push Jews out of Israel and the Palestinians in.
His analysis is correct and indisputable.
What a anti semetic statement.
