The largest Sukkah in Europe has been erected in the courtyard of the Marina Roscha Shul in the center of Moscow.
The Sukkah has seating for 1,000 people and was built to accommodate the many diners who have joined for all meals the first two days of Sukkot.
The meals are provided free of charge to everyone, in great abundance. These days, the temperature in Moscow the Russian capital stands at 23° C, but the atmosphere prevailing in the Chassidic Sukkah, warmed the hearts of many diners, along with words of Torah that were heard from the Chief Rabbi of Russia Rabbi Berel Lazar along with Chasidic dancing which lasted a long time, even in the streets of city, and large masses of people danced in circles on a nearby street every night of the two-day holiday.
During the holiday the Sukkah is open to all with hospitality provided by the Shul’s gaba’im, which has become over the years a tradition and a byword, distributing refreshments, hot and cold drinks, plates of steaming soup and more, for the many who join to make the blessing “Leshev Basukkah” and bless the Lulav and Esrog.
That is beautiful weather, approximately 73°F! Definitely not Sukkos weather in Russia! It must be that the weather in Moscow is 23°F which is – 5°C
Perhaps other shluchim in Russia can send photos to COL their peulois.
Hurray for rabbi lazar! He was one of the first shluchim of Lishkas Ezra’s Achim that lifted yiddishkeit in the early years of repression. Now he is going FULL blast !
Rabbi Lazer I don’t know how you do it but I can tell you this you are the man and you’re doing a great job
