Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will share the stage on Monday night for their first presidential debate held at the Hofstra University in New York.
Bloomberg News called the nationally and internationally broadcast event “one of the most highly anticipated debates in modern politics.”
The Republican billionaire and the Democratic former Secretary of State have been engaged in intense debate preparation as the two are tied in recent polls.
In the latest Bloomberg Politics national poll, the nominees each get 46 percent of likely voters in a head-to-head contest, while Trump gets 43 percent to Clinton’s 41 percent when third-party candidates are included.
About half, 49 percent, say they anticipate the former first lady will perform better, while 39 percent say that for Trump, a real-estate developer and former TV personality.
Gerald F. Seib of the Wall Street Journal argues that while Clinton has significant experience in election debates, Trump enters the presidential debates with his own set of advantages:
The debate is due to begin at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time and will be aired without commercials.
The 90 minute debate will be moderated by Lester Holt, anchor of NBC Nightly News and Dateline NBC.
The vice presidential debate between Mike Pence and Tim Kaine will be on October 4 (the second day of Rosh Hashanah). Two more presidential debates are set for Sunday, October 9 and Tuesday, October 19.

very good to Israel???!!!
who was the one who signed the Iran deal?
i 100% agree with you. my vote is for trump
Clearly Trump has syatta dishmaya!
They are both lunatics and liars, but Hillary is worse for Isreal.
@31
By stepping back and saying I don’t care, you are letting Clinton into the office! No, we all have to get up and ensure that we do what we can to keep her out of the White House!
He definitely spoke out against Israel publicly. but the fact is he is not cause Israel to give away any land. Second of all he United Israel’s left and right with those strong statements. And that helped us tremendously. l Third of all he gave Israel all the money they requested.
One is very experienced in politics but is of seriously questionable integrity. The other is a formidable businessman but lacks political & diplomatic expertise. The choices are not easy, we’ll try our best to cope. The truest best for us and the world is to storm the Gates of Heaven and press hard to bring Moshiach Now!!!
He might free rubashkin. So out of the 2 evils I vote for him.
but don’t pretend there is any religious imperative behind it. Neither Trump nor Clinton are paragons of moral virtue. Don’t act like you are doing a huge mitzvah to vote for Trump. And the fact that the polls are tied is not some nes min hashomayim, it just shows how gullible and stupid the American people are that they fall for this con man. I for one am not falling for it.
The fact that Trump made it this far, representing the Republican Party and garnishing nearly a tie with veteran politician Hillary, is CLEARLY a NESS GOLUY and indicated that he has SYATTA DI’SHMAYA. Hashem obviously wants Trump to win – but we still have bechira to vote as we want – even if not as Hashem wants.
frankly you are some 10 year old kid that has no idea about any politics. Donald John Trump Sr. will restore jobs, lower taxes, rip up the Iran deal, gets a long with bibi nentayhu more then Clinton or Obama, will stop Obamacare, will built a wall that will be paid for in full by the Mexicans taxes, will stop sanctuary cites, will hire a good supreme court justice, will enforce the 2nd amendment, ETC. for more info. go to donaldjtrump.com
from a proud Trump supporter.
thank you.
unfortunately this race is to pick the candidate least likely to cause WWIII because neither seem like good choices. Would the frum community benefit from some of Trump’s immigration policies?
In last weeks parsha, don’t the curses for disobedience result in the punishments – most, if not all that occured durring the Holocaust. It is not just Rabbi Avigdor Miller, Z”L. who was saying this. So, what’s wrong with such speculation, unless you are saying that this is the REASON, rather than just a POSSIBILITY why this happened.
Netanyahu said that regardless of who wins, Israel will have a friend in the White House. Is Hillary an anti-semite , sone Yisriel and rest? Let’s say she is. This does not necessarily mean that she will take action to destroy Israel or severely damage its interests. Look, we were hearing that Obama was like that, if not worse! But, during his tenure, it was the Arab nations surrounding Israel that had massive carnage and upheavals. So, while we do our part to vote for the best candidate, it is the Ribono Shel Olam who runs the show, not the… Read more »
Trump does not represent traditional morality and is not a true conservative. The Republican party is undergoing a metamorphosis but it does not appear that they will ever have the power to change Supreme Court decisions that have resulted in moral decline, no matter how many justices he gets to seat.
@5 As others have said my daughters are a long way off from voting. But more importantly, if indeed, you are as yet undecided about how to vote… then read the transcripts, so that you can focus on the content of the discourse (assuming there is any…I did not need the debate to know how to vote and thus did not look into it at all) rather than the optics and manipulations. What we actually have are assignments where the girls are being asked to form opinions about things that they have no inkling at all into, which is itself… Read more »
please vote for trump for a better America and a better Israel! you all know that Hillary is going to be a disaster as president in all way!!
Pls don’t make your vote all of Chabad’s, OK?
22,
Advisor Miller said horrible things which discounts him from being a man d’umar.
His pathetic blaming of the holocaust on secular Jews was very strongly opposed by the rebbe.
We must beg & plead to Hashem to make the best choice for us & hopefully that will be Moshiach!
Very simple chesbon. Listen to Dennis Prager as he explains it the best:
If Hillary is elected she will get to choose the next Supreme Court pick and that will push the agenda of the left and jeopardize so many issues facing our country that can cause so much damage for years to come.
The Democratic party does the most stealing, is against family values. They are very involved with making transgender bathrooms and want to make “alternative marriage and lifestyles” a norm. There is anarchy in our country and our courts of law under this administration is corrupt beyond recognition? Yes the Democratic party is against all of Hashem’s Shevah Mitzvot Benai Noach. The one and only Torah vote is a vote for Donald Trump period. Avigdor Miller ZTL was 100% correct.
speak for yourself, some people may like to hear about the debates, we are living in the New York and not in a third world country, so it does affect us all, vote Trump he is better for Isreal
2all Lubavitcher vote trump not 4 מכשפה ימח שימה שונאת ישראל
Funny that YOU haven’t stopped visiting this website.
We need to see this so everyone can now that Hilary is a paradoxical liar, is suffering from some undisclosed ailment (you don’t kiss babies when you’ve just been diagnosed wih pneumonia!) and has a deep seated hatred for Israel and Jews.
Not to many BR high school girls are old enough to vote. For them it’s a waste of time.
Hillary is worse than Donald Trump
I agree with you but Hillary is a LIAR and was careless with highly classified information (the later is the opinion of the head of the FBI by the way). Do you want such a person to be your president??
HE WILL MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.
GOOD FOR YIDDEN.
Don’t vote for the anti semetic – anti Israel – pro Palestinian מכשפה ימ”ש
who ever is going to vote for hillary is very week in yidishkeit if you care about israel and the yiden there is only one Trump
Hillary stood there looking presidential with her beatific smile and proper decorum, but we all know that under this thin veneer stands a very crooked person. Donald looked like a bulldog, ready to pounce on everything that was said, repeating himself numerous times ad nauseum, and did not at all look dignified. … I guess this is Hashem’s way of getting us all to daven for Moshiach with more kavana. Heaven help us…
Neither one of them are my cup of tea. However I’m not sure if any of you noticed this but dear GD Trump really has no idea what he’s saying most of the time. It was like complete gibberish. In addition to that he made it pretty clear he cares more about his own wealth and businesses than he does the people. This is politics, not a business. Mrs. Clinton gets my vote.
dont vote for Donald Trump
hillary is horrible too, but trump is even worse
Agree with #3
GARY JOHNSON!!!
Who one will vote for is fairly simple: Trump represents the Republicans and Clinton, Democrats.
It’s not just a president…it’s also the party, their beliefs, (platform), practices, history, etc.
The Republicans seem closer to ‘Torah’ than the Democrats. I heard that Rabbi Avigdor Miller, A”H, said a Jew should never vote for Democrats bec. they are farther from ‘Torah’ principles.
Perhaps if your/my daughter would watch the debate she will become an informed voter! Nothing wrong with that!
BS”D # 2 when you state “we are tired… ” you cannot speak for anyone other than yourself. This election has a magnitude of significance to Israel and thus rightly belongs on this site so that people can educate themselves whom to vote for (Trump). And do you mean to say the Rebbe never spoke of current topics at a Frabrengin. K’Siva v’ Chasima Tova L’Shana Tova u’ Masuka to you and your Mishpacha.
As I do agree with you, I must make a point I’ve been following this for a while and for those who are unsure hillary is a big NO NO, she is an anti semite that puts on a smile while behind doors hates us…
On the other hand Trump is what he is may not be the best but likes jews and israel much more.
Get out and vote for Trump!
Not sure who to vote for. But what I’m more confused is why this is found on a “community” website? That concerns me more than any debate or elections… So while I still may not know who to vote for and I may even have an interest in the “debate” I don’t understand why you guys decided to post this at any time and especially before Rosh Hashanah. This simply doesn’t belong here and we are tired of seeing this stuff and even more tired of this website pushing their own agenda just to get some more hits when this… Read more »
