Chai Elul, a most significant day in the Chassidic calendar, was the perfect opportunity for Lamplighters Yeshivah to host their first Father-Son farbrengen.
Over 60 fathers and sons gathered in that room to learn together, be inspired and connect on this special day. Participants were able to choose from a few different learning materials based on age and level, created by Lamplighters’ Rebbes. The most exciting feature of the event was Benny Friedman, a Lamplighters parent, who led the niggunim with stories and narrations. A night the boys – and their fathers! – will never forget.
“There were such a special feeling in the air, you could really tell that all the fathers and sons were just so excited to be there,” Shlomo Minkowitz, a Lamplighters parent, remarked. “For me personally, it was very special to be there with my sons in that setting and tell them stories about chai Elul and sing niggunim with them.”
This event was one of many that Lamplighters Yeshivah’s new programming committee plans for the coming year. The committee, together with input from parents and teachers, is working toward creating meaningful programming in the school around the important days in the Jewish and Chassidic calendars.
