Elki Rosenfeld, a beloved educator and longtime Crown Heights resident, passed away.
She was 67.
Elki grew up in Crown Heights, along with her brother, Izzy Rosenfeld OBM. After attending High School, she was sent by the Rebbe to attend Gateshead Seminary in England.
She dedicated her life to the field of education, impacting generations of girls as a teacher in Bais Rivkah and later Machon Chana for many years, as well as a longtime principal in Shevach High School in Queens.
In later years she lived in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
The levaya will take place tomorrow, Sunday at Shomrei Hadas in Boro Park at 12 pm, followed by burial at Wellwood Cemetery in Long Island.

she told my class 3 amazing stories while we met her on mivtzoim in the train station
1.about the Rebbes instructions for her to bring kos shel brocho to gateshead (and her getting the kitchen staff to put it in the wine bottles before kidush
2. about her finishing 3rd year gateshead which the Rebbe encouraged her.when you start somethung always finish it!
3.the Rebbe told her not to do a back operation which years later anyone who had it was badly injured
I remember when she would come to Izzy and Marilyn for shabbos and I would see her at Frankel shul. She was friendly and warm. I think she got a kick out of her brother’s lively brood.
Miss Rosenfeld was kind and gentle as a teacher. She even hosted a review class in her apartment for us. Later, I worked with her. So warm and cheerful, always asking about others well being.
She was my assistant principal for four years at Shevach, she was also my teacher. She was an excellent role model. I am really saddened by her petira. May she be a mailitz yosher for us all. Perhaps her former students can do something for a zechus for her nishama. Any ideas?
Elki’s mother was Camp Mother in Camp Bnos in Liberty, NY,
back in the 50s. She was beloved as well.

Thank you. I never knew the nifteres, but am comforted to hear that she had family in addition to her many friends.
May we have only happy news to share.
So very sad. A smart and fun woman. Full of love and wit. A great educator. She taught a a shiur Tanya in Gateshead, England many years ago and brought visitors to Crown Heights for Simchas Torah from England back then as per the Rebbe’s instructions.
She was predeceased by her sister Sara Claire as well. BD”E. The three siblings had the most wonderful mother-Mrs. Gertie (Gertrude) Rosenfeld.
Sorry to hear! May she be a gutta Betta.
Elki Rosenfeld your presence was always a delight. Machon Chana will not be the same without you in all of our classes. BDE
Whenever I was with her, she was full of smiles and good humour and so full of life.
To #2 there is no one sitting shiva for her. She loved her nieces and nephews and their children and will be missed by them all, I’m sure.
A very special woman. BDE.
She was very special, may she be a gute better for us all.
Who are the aveilim? Article only mentions her brother who predeceased her. So sad. She looks like she was a warm and happy woman.
