Remember the Iran nuclear deal that had Israel deeply concerned? U.S. Congresswoman Yvette Clarke said voting to approve it was an “easy decision.”
Clarke discussed the controversial agreement led by President Barack Obama during a J Street panel discussion near the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
“I can take a step in either direction, and get email blasts immediately,” she said about her track record of being supportive of Israel and signing on bills to put pressure and even condemning Israel.
“I call it being in the midst of a family feud,” she added about representing New York’s Ninth District which includes Lubavitch Chassidic Jews in Crown Heights, Sephardic Jews in Sheepshead Bay and a “growing” Reform Jewish population in Park Slope.
According to a report by JTA news agency, Clarke said voting for the Iran deal was easy since “pressures to reject the deal were so alienating.”
One example mentioned was a large sign near her office that urged constituents to “Tell Congresswoman Clarke to Vote No on the Iran Deal,” JTA reported.
Voters who had little idea about what the deal comprised Googled it, she said, and once they discovered that it was backed by President Obama, they supported it and urged her to vote yes.
“I am struggling to understand how Clarke could call her decision ‘easy’ knowing knowing that the relief money will go to terrorism,” Crown Heights Jewish activist Yaacov Behrman told COLlive.com on Thursday in response to Clarke’s remarks.
He said that deciding to support the deal based on political affiliation, “is exactly what angered the Jewish community and fair-minded people all over the country.”
Behrman added: “When the safety and security of the world are at stake, people should take the time to make a decision based on the facts and not just blindly follow a leader they respect.”
There should be school buses & the Shalom Center bus circling Crown Heights on Election Day to make it easier / possible for older people and others to get to the polls. This is standard in many communities.
Numbers count. The CHJCC ( or someone who cares ) needs to make sure that all eligible voters are registered . That includes aggressively registering our girls and bochurim when they return after the summer & before they leave for seminaries, yeshivas, shlichus etc to allow them to cast absentee ballots. We also have Chabad American citizens around the world who should vote this November. This would add a large amount of votes which equals power. We really can’t whine about who wins if we don’t vote.
You are funny… but SAD funny….
From the sound of your voice (comment) it seems to me, that you are part of the REAL LEADERS in our community that did all in your (their) power to undermined, undercut and denigrate, Mendy Reitport when he tried to make a difference.
While the PAC that you soooooooooooooo envy, went all out, supporting Mendy Reitport.!!!!
לא תחמוד
..
We don’t vote, so she doesn’t care what we have to say. That must change this time around, hopefully next time it won’t be that easy…
Our community “leaders” and PAC said to vote for her. It’s time to get rid of our own clueless leaders first. Clarke will fall next.
How many of us Crown Heights Yidden showed up to vote at the recent primary?
We’d better turn out in November, regardless of the outcome, and give her a wake-up call when she sees how many of us are against what she did!
“I can take a step in either direction, and get email blasts immediately,” she said. That means that somehow she doesn’t mind or respect the Crown Heights Jews’ “email blasts” as much as she minds the Pro-Jihad-Annihilate-Israel (C”V!) “email blasts”. It’s time to vote against her!
I guess the final solution was also an easy decision
…is an even easier decision!
solution is to primary her with a palatable democrat, as GOP have no chance in Brooklyn.
Actually Ms Whoever, we are proud to have Jews in NY from all nationalities and walks of life. At least WE are not killing each other.
so any one going to vote this election day?
its time for her to go
No vote and no financing her anymore.
Why quote her at all? Her support or lack thereof does not carry the weight to influence US policy. Our reliance is not on her either practically or spiritually.
his allegiance should be to the american people!!!!
and since when is the commander in chief a dictator???? isnt this a democracy where we can choose to disagree with the president, especially when he sympathizes so strongly for our enemies that cheer the american destruction.
sorry yvette maybe the word isnt allegiance but….. sucking up!
IT WAS EASY BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT VOTE ON RIGHT OR WRONG SHE VOTES ON PARTY OR COLOR. IF OBAMA SAYS VOTE YES ITS YES! PATHETIC VOTE HER OUT
PS AND AT THE TIME SHE SAID SHE WAS THINKING ABOUT? UHUH WE KNEW THEN SHE WAS PLAYING US
Of course it’s an easy decision. Woman hasn’t had an original thought ever. She is chemical reaction, with no agency at all. A left wing automaton, as predictable as a fast food bun size.
“our allegiance is to the commander -in -chief”. really!!!! as far as i understand the allegiance is to the American people who voted her in to serve them!!!!!
this is the problem when the goal is out of sight!
may the אויבערשטער protect us. and we always must remember that לב מלכים ושרים ביד השם.
