In the midst of construction of this new neighborhood, the Chabad community of Ramat Beit Shemesh Gimmel is also growing in leaps and bounds.
For the first time, Anglo N’shei Chabad of RBSG held a spectacular Hakhel Seuda and farbrengen in honor of Gimmel Tammuz, on Sunday, Daled Tammuz.
The event also attracted ladies from RBS Aleph and Jerusalem who enjoyed a unique evening at the home of Mrs. Hindy Lewis, where a full 4 course seuda was served as they paid rapt attention to the guest speakers.
Rebbetzin Bracha Farro, Shlucha to RBS Aleph, said the Rebbe’s Kapital, and Rebbetzin Shevy Mendelsohn, Shlucha to RBSG, spoke a few words in Hebrew expressing her delight at this beautiful occasion.
Rebbetzin Rochel Vechter of Kiryat Malachi was the keynote speaker; born in Satmar, Romania after the war and formerly of Williamsburg, Rebbetzin Vechter spoke passionately about her family’s journey to Chabad and their deep connection to and personal encounters with the Rebbe. Her words of chizuk and her humor and humility made a deep impression on the crowd, who were left wanting to hear more.
Mrs. Brocha Lent, Shlucha to Nottingham University in UK, spoke about the impact the Rebbe has on her Shlichus. Despite having few memories of actually seeing the Rebbe, she eloquently conveyed how her connection to the Rebbe inspires her in every way. She shared some of her experiences, including cooking and serving 1000 meals to students this Pesach, and how a student whose Jewish involvement was limited to 6 classes on Jewish marriage is now spending the summer at Mayanot.
Both speakers were presented with pictures of the Rebbe in appreciation of their exceptional contribution to the success of the evening. The event was co-sponsored by local businesses as well as by ladies from across Ramat Beit Shemesh, which helped defray the costs. To end the evening raffles were drawn, and the winners were delighted to take home a bi-lingual Tehillim, a gourmet cheese and wine basket, delicious chocolates and more.
Thanks are due to the ladies who arranged, cooked for and set up the event: Miriam Marks, Nava Rosenbloom, Fayga Marks, Anna Shenkin and Hindy Lewis. This event has put RBSG on the map, and is just the beginning of unique programming for English speakers. What made it even more special was the number of guests who aren’t Chabad but who were enthralled by everything they heard.
Anyone who is considering moving to Israel should definitely check out the vibrant Chabad community of RBSG. For further information on future events, contact Nava (972-54-229-77630) or Miriam (972-53-423-1847.)
