Bas Mitzvah Girl’s Tears of Joy

12-year-old Sheina Wilhelm was celebrating her Bas Mitzvah on Tuesday in Oslo, Norway, where her family serves as the Chabad Shluchim of the Rebbe.

As a student of the Nigri International Shluchim Online School, she spends a portion of her day in front of the computer screen to complete her Judaic studies in a virtual classroom.

The screen is her prime opportunity to connect and spend time with fellow Jewish girls her age who are in living in small Jewish communities. It’s 913 students hail from 397 cities are enrolled according to gender and region.

The school, which educated some 3,221 children of Shluchim since 2006, has 93 classes ongoing almost 24 hours a day, with 98 teachers, to cater to boys and girls living in 5 time zones in the world.

So imagine Sheina Wilhelm’s utter surprise when she was told to come outside to meet one of her classmates in person – Moussia Federman from the Virgin Islands – who came to celebrate with her.
