The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force Unit is probing a harassment incident that took place Sunday night in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn as a possible hate crime.
Investigators says a 70-year-old Jewish man identified by sources as Mordcha Rosenfeld, was dressed in Lubavitch traditional clothing was walking home on Crown Street, when an unknown black male approached him and started yelling at him, “Allahu Akbar, kill all the Jews ” police officials said.
The 70-year-old man called police, and officers from the 71st Precinct responded to the scene. They searched the area but did not find the suspect.
Since there have been many anti-Semitic incidents recently in Crown Heights, the precinct commander Deputy Inspector Norman Grandstaff showed up at the scene for the investigation, a source said.
The Hate Crime Task Force Unit has been notified about the incident and is continuing the investigation.
Unfortunately have to write this comment a lot lately.
The police showed up 2 hours after the incident.
This is an outrage.
Imagine if it was the opposite.

Happened to me on Sunday afternoon on Albany Abe btwn president and union. The chazir was screaming anti semetic slurs and telling Jews to get off the side walk(exactly like the nazis did) me and another shomrim member,who responded, notified the policemen at the mobile unit outside 770 ,we even pointed to where the guy was, but the policemen said he would keep an eye out and continued to enjoy his afternoon snooze in the shade of his car-very strange. Separately, I wonder if it’s a crime for one person to say to another something like that. It’s not incitement, since there was no one else there. So what’s the crime?
I’m not saying I condone such behaviour, and I in fact I dislike it, but free speech is what it is.
