The annual Lag Ba’omer at the ‘Anshei Moshe Family’ Shul in Crown Heights (Lincoln pl.) ascended a notch this year.
Early on, mothers and children gathered in Anshei Moshe for arts and crafts directed by Mrs. Chana Rubashkin. Every child proudly prepared their own sign and crown to carry throughout the parade.
At 8:00, all the children were invited outside for a Grand Hakhel Rally. Chairs with snacks and ballons awaited them. Participants learnt about the Kedusha of the day, recited the 12 Pesukim, Tzedoka, stories, nosh, raffles and prizes. The Hakhel rally was led by Rabbi Levi Zaltzman.
As the Holy day began, all prepared to march. Music filled the air as children led the way torches in hand with a large Rashbi banner in the lead, all paraded proudly from Lincoln Pl. to Utica Ave. then down Eastern Parkway.
“The Geon Yaakov -Jewish Pride- was felt in the air on Utica Avenue!” said one mother.
The parade was led by Rabbis Mendy Yusewitz and Getzel Rubashkin of Anshei Moshe.
Following the Parade was the traditional lighting of the Medura (bonfire) in honor of the Tanna Eloki Rabbie Shimon Bar Yochai.
Fathers partook in the Zechus of the lighting. Taking the tourches from the kids they all lit the fire. Dancing, singing, refreshments and drinks accompanied the farbrengen deep into the night.
Special thank to Reb Shmuel Pevzner, Reb Getzel Rubashkin for refreshments.
Nochum Yusewitz and Benni Elirone for logistics.
Meir Kabakov and Tzvi Popack for Rally arrangement, and Dovi Mayers for photography.
