Jewish Girls Unite, the global community for Jewish girls, held their first anniversary celebration on Tuesday at the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights.
Hundreds of women and girls gathered for ”An Evening of Inspiration, Unity and Light,” celebrating the growth of the Jewish Girls Unite website and its growth and impact.
The event was also broadcast live for women and girls across the globe.
At the event, Founder and Director of Jewish Girls Unite and Jewish Girls Retreat Mrs. Nechama Laber recognized the partnerships of Mrs. Yocheved Daphna, Honorary Chair and Mrs. Linda Schwartz, Honorary Founder.
Mrs. Esther Sternberg was honored for her decades of commitment to Mitzvah Neshek, the Lubavitch Women’s Candle Lighting Campaign with the first Jewish Matriarch Award.
Three JGU Shining Stars debuted at the dinner, all 3 alumnae of the Jewish Girls Retreat. Two of the stars performed live at the dinner – Golda Daphna and Chana Leah Yerushalmi, and Dasi Sessel performed via live stream from the Shul of Bal Harbour.
The event celebrated the impact of Jewish Girls Unite, a global community empowering Jewish girls and women, using innovative approaches in education and technology. Through creative Jewish education programs focusing on the arts and self discovery, JGU inspires girls to “shine their inner light” [find their purpose] and become leaders who create positive change in our world.
The event concluded with a spirited performance by singers Esther Freeman, Tzivia Kay and Shaindel Antelis.
Jewish Girls Unite programs include virtual Rosh Chodesh celebrations, Online classes for Bat Mitzvah, Teens, and Women, Summer and Winter Retreats and a new Leadership Development Retreat. JGU also has an editorial board of writers and a forum for girls to share ideas and ask questions online. JGU members have met for the very first time at the Jewish Girls Summer and Winter Retreats in Upstate NY.
