Rivkah Brikman, the mother of the Jewish man that was stabbed in Crown Heights 2 weeks ago, has filmed a video refuting “rumors” that the suspect has been arrested by the NYPD.
“The reason I am coming to you today is to tell the Crown Heights community know that there were many rumors going around that Leiby’s attacker was caught. He was not caught,” she said on Friday.
Her newlywed son, Leiby Brikman, was stabbed in broad daylight on Wednesday, February 10, as he was walking on Empire Blvd. The 25-year-old suffered from a collapsed lung and internal bleeding.
Mrs. Brikman, co-director of Chabad of Sea Gate and Coney Island, said she is releasing the video statement in response to reports that the suspect was in police custody.
“If any of you were afraid until now that there is someone dangerous on the run, he is still out there,” she said. “The rumors were not true. I am confirming that they are all rumors. He is still out there.”

After rumors have been circulating on Twitter about an arrest, @JewishReporter tweeted: “The man taken into custody is not the suspect, a tip lead the detectives to this man but it turned out to be the wrong person.”
The victim, Leiby Brikman, used an interview with the New York Daily News to urge the NYPD to boost security in the area — where 3 Jewish people have been stabbed over the past year.
“I hope police take it seriously,” he said, speaking from his parents’ home in Seagate, Brooklyn, where he is recuperating after being discharged from the hospital on Sunday. “The neighborhood needs more security to prevent the next attack.”
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

I feel very uncomfortable and angry that in 2016 there has not been an arrest made yet!The community and little children deserve more respect and security to walk our streets and live a normal life.
Boruch Hashem Inheard that Leiby is doing well and even went to Shul this Shabbos
make this video and pics of him viral. on the vid we can see his face very clear. this video is in location of mapple and troy. go guess if this guy goes around our neighborhood only.
we need security, hashem’s security.
yes, of course we need to do all we can, in terms of safety and security. but..
im hashem lo yishmor eer, shav shakad shomer.
There was NOT ONE MORE policeman on the streets of CH as result of this incident!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why????????????????
General rule: As long as there isn’t a pic of the stabber in handcuffs, or behind bars..(even then not always…) DON’T BELIEVE HE WAS CAUGHT!
