The main suspect in the stabbing of a 25-year-old Jewish man in Crown Heights 2 weeks ago was brought in for questioning by the New York Police Departement.
A police official told COLlive.com that the identity of the black man captured by surveillance footage fleeing the scene of the stabbing on Empire Blvd. on February 10th is now known to them.
The man was brought in for questioning on Wednesday, February 24, but an arrest has yet to be made. “We are waiting for additional evidence,” the source said.
Footage from the SafeZone24 security system supplier showed the man fleeing the scene with a bloody knife in hand.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
The victim, Leiby Brikman, has been suffering from a collapsed lung and internal bleeding and was only discharged from the hospital on Sunday.
He used an interview with the New York Daily News to urge the NYPD to boost security in the area — where 3 Jewish people have been stabbed over the past year.
“I hope police take it seriously,” he said, speaking from his parents’ home in Seagate, Brooklyn, where he is recuperating. “The neighborhood needs more security to prevent the next attack.”
It has yet to be determined whether the suspect in custody is connected to 2 previous stabbing attacks on Jews in Crown Heights that occurred this past year.

American law does accept circumstantial evidence, so If this person was captured on film with a bloody instrument in his hand at the same time and place that the stabbing took place what further evidence could the police possibly be waiting for? Why was he released, and what’s to stop him from sneaking out of the country, with or without a passport, today?
we should find him ourselves
before you can start worrying about his freedom, you should first worry about his arrest – which hasn’t happened yet.
so why do the signs on Kingston only mention $2,500 reward?
Hope he doesn’t see freedom ever again.
They did not catch him!!!!!!! This is propaganda and the CH council is playing along. Show me a picture of him in custody. This is an attempt to show the community that they are doing something when in reality its hurting us by letting the NYPD relax. Shame on you!
Give him the electric chair!!!
WOW bh they found him
What more evidence could they possibly need? Such a dangerous person should be immediately placed under arrest.
Why don’t they arrest him in the meantime? He could run away!
Number 3 stop complaining and do something every time something happens you make disgusting cammants its people like you who makes crown heights less safe
If the public knew the name of the person identified as the stabber so the public could possibly help locate the assailant.
Its about time they caught him.
Too bad a few strong wise Jews didn’t catch him before the police. The low-life probably has a long arrest record & is not afraid of the law. Why should we suffer at the hands of an anti-American government? ‘One Nation, Under G-d, With Liberty & Justice for All.’ Justice? Where? In Williamsburg this perpetrator would have been found dead in some alley or backyard without any witnesses. DOWN with the evil policies & guidelines of this NYC Government. I’m a victim of the 1991 Crown Heights Pogrom and a natural born citizen (Crown Heights) & I do NOT trust… Read more »
