Mrs. Asya Devorah Dubrawsky, longtime Crown Heights resident and wife of Rabbi Yehoshua Dubrawsky obm, passed away on Wednesday, Adar 1, 5776.
She was 85.
Mrs. Dubrawsky, nee Menkin, married her husband Yehoshua (Hayshke) Dubrawsky in Paris. They moved to Crown Heights where they raised a family of Chasidim and Shluchim.
Mrs. Dubrawsky was very active in the N’shei Chabad organization, organizing and running Shiurim for women in 770 for many years.
She took great pride in the fact that all 7 of her children serve as dedicated Shluchim in locations around the globe, and her home in Crown Heights was the “home base” for all the children, grandchildren and extended family. Her home was always open to relatives and guests, and she was proud of their work as leaders of communities, education and outreach.
Her husband served for over 3 decades as one of the main editors of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s published talks in Yiddish into the first few volumes of the Lekutei Sichos series.
That work earned him the rare compliment from the Rebbe on one of these talks – “this is the best hanocho of my talks I have ever seen.”
He passed away on Iyar 29, 5770.
She is survived by her children: Sarah Gurevitch – shlucha in Lyon, France, Yosef Yitzchok Dubrawsky – shliach in Curitiba, Brazil, Mendel Dubrawsky – Shliach in Dallas, Texas, Miriam Labkowsky – Shlucha in Los Angeles, CA and Chana Katzman – Shlucha in Staten Island, NY.
She was predeceased by her children Rabbi Lipa Dubrawsky obm and Zlata Geisinsky obm.
The Levaya will take place tomorrow, Thursday, leaving Shomrei Hadas in Boro Park at 9:45 am and passing by 770 at 10:45 am.

Mrs Dubrawski always received me and my friends with a very big heart at her home in NYC.We live in Brazil -Curitiba-where her son Rav Yossef Itzcchak Dubrawski with his wife and Family do a wonderful job as Sluchim of the Rebe.I had many oportunities to be with her and she inspired me in Emuna and doing more and more mitzvot. She Always took care of women giving advices to be always elegante and beautiful in a tsiniutik way.We from Curitiba-Brazil miss her a lot!!!
such a special woman, a truly dignified and modest example of what we should strive for. She opened her home without batting an eyelid, to guests to sleep, eat, even when times were not easy. And everyone was made to feel heimish, as if they belonged in the house as much as her own children. From the (iranian:syrian?) girls who came and were taken in to live with them, to the guest from all four corners of the world, many brought to Chabad thanks to her mesiras nefesh too, thru the hard work of her children, shluchim all over the… Read more »

a special special lady whom i had the privilege to know prior to my marriage in 1984. even though i didnt see her often after the kids, when i did she remember them all. whe will be missed not only by her family but by the women of this community
Is my Rebbi in Dallas. So sad to read this BDE May you all be comforted .
All of the above tributes are so true….plus Asya had a sense of humor, and a sharp mind. She was so devoted to the Rebbe’s Shul -770 – and actively worked in the Ezras Nashim Shul Committee in making sure that the Women’s Shul in 770 be presentable, clean, and dignified as befits a makom kadosh. We will miss her wit, her devotion to the Shul, and practical ideas in helping to keep up our beloved Shul in all areas – gashmius and ruchnius. Moshiach NOW!!
I did not know her very well, but she was always so courteous and gracious to everyone. She truly was a royal person. Very special lady. My condolences to the Dubrawsky family. Moshiach now.
as a guest from France in their home, Mrs Dubrawsky had always her home open with a smile not only from France, from CA. from Washington DC, from Texas, from Brazil just like Avraham Avinu to the 4 corners of the world,
Mrs Dubrawsky we will miss you forever and ever.
In the zechrus of all the Chessed and Missirut Nefesh to build a strong home of shluchim will bring Mashiach Tzikkenu right now and you are just a true example forever. We miss your nice, elegant and warm home on President st.

Mrs Dubrawsky was the ultimate woman of valor.
As a close friend of her daughter Chanie I always marvelled at their open, chassidishe home. The love and warmth emanating from the Dubrawsky home was palpable.
Knowing her children-all Shlucim all beautiful inside and out, comforts me to know that the legacy of this previous stellar generation will live on.
Hearing Chanie speak at the Kinus of our commitment to Shlichus despite the challenges of losing loved ones, with such beauty elegance and grace was truly inspirational.
Mrs Dubrawsky, you have much to be proud of
Royal, elegant, and modest. She was the epitome of a chassidishe woman in the 21st century. Showing that america is nisht andresh and following in the footsteps of her family. Growing up in the open house of her parents Reb Sender and Aida (Lipsker) Menkin, she brought with her the warm chassidishe and loving spirit of the past. Loosing her only brother Chanch Henich and only sister Zlata (Wilschanski) at a very young age, she carried on strong continuing the family legacy and bringing up a beautiful family of her own, while losing two of her own children later in… Read more »
asya was special. knew what to say to make you feel good,
may Hashem repay her daughter chani with iddishe un chssidishe nachas for the regal way in which she and her family treated mrs. dubravsky. the dubravskies always had the Bubbe Manya with them, and the Katzmans learned from their mother and bubbe asya how to treat the previous generation. only simcha and frayd from here on in.
Always friendly, dignified and modest. A wise and regal eshes chayil who raised a wonderful family. May they have only good news to share.
Mrs. Dubrawsky had a warm chassidish and open home for all.
Her acts of chesed were an example for me and many others who knew her.
The family should have only simchos from now on.
אישה טובת לב יפה חסידית ארחה אותי מאוד יפה בשבתות ברוך דיין האמת
Mrs. Dubrawsky, obm, was not only a devoted wife and proud mother of shluchim but an outstanding daughter-in-law who traveled a great distance by ferry to Staten Island to visit her mother-in-law each week. In addition, she formed warm connections with the young mothers in Crown Heights, offering them encouragement and support. She has been missed for the past several years since moving from Crown Heights but those who were fortunate to know her and admire her will always carry within them the zchus that such a special woman lived in our midst. May the yerusha of her unending maasim… Read more »
She was such a special woman, she exuded warmth and care and I was just a random person who became a regular at her shabbos table.
I loved their shabbos table, the varmkeit of chassidishkeit was palpable.
I always loved helping her prep her taco and salsa salad before kiddush.
May her family be comforted and may she be a gutte better for all her descendants.
And may we all be reunited with our loved ones with the coming of Moshiach now!
Hashem yenachem. May Moshiach come now
