Online School Students Meet Up

The Nigri International Shluchim Online School, which now has over 1000 children enrolled worldwide, held its 8th Annual Day of Celebration on Thursday.

Two hundred parents, teachers and students of the Nigri International Shluchim Online School gathered together on Thursday for a full day of celebration. The program serves as yearly opportunity for the students of the online school to interact and socialize outside the online classroom setting.

Students came from all over the United States and as far off as Sweden, Beijing, Ukraine, and Italy to join the celebration.

Some highlights of the event included a live school assembly, class time and a grand lip-syncing game. Students heard about the importance of Chof Bais Shvat and the special lessons each student can learn from the Rebbetzin.

Students shared their excitement about the Online School and the day of celebration program provided by The Shluchim Office, “Each of our teachers gives her heart and soul to us, making sure that we not only are learning new material and mastering important skills, but that we are also growing in our chassidishkeit and strengthening our hiskashrus to the Rebbe. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of how lucky I am that I go to such an incredible school.” said Chaya Boyarsky, a student from Ottawa, Canada.

A special parents program took place simultaneously with educators and parents addressing topics relating to monitoring and improving the social development of children and how to enhance the children’s schooling experience.

The parents program included a masterful presentation by Dr. Rona Novick, and and a panel of Online School parents led by Mrs. Chaya Rivka Schmerling of Chabad of Venice, FL, Mrs. Sara Steinmetz of Chabad of Sarasota, FL, and Mrs. Maryashi Sternberg of Chabad of New London, CT, moderated by Mrs. Leah Shemtov of Chabad of Stamford, CT. All parents participated in the lively discussion with many interesting experiences being shared first hand.

“The girls had a great time meeting in person and sharing in the program. The mothers who heard Dr. Novick and the parents panel were uplifted and empowered.” said Mrs. Malkie Gurkow, principal of the Nigri International Shluchim Online School. Mrs. Gurkow also thanked Shternie Shemtov, Leah Olidort and Devorah Leah Soblick for coordinating the program.

The event ended on a high with a beautiful banquet led by Risa Levertov of Scottsdale, AZ, a graduate of the Online School. It featured a roll call and live presentations which were prepared by the students who learned and rehearsed the songs and dances using the online school platform.
