A Mega Florida Hakhel (Year of Gathering) Event will be held at the 36th Annual South Florida Chassidic Chanukah Festival, on Monday, December 7, 2015, 7PM, on the second night of Chanukah.
The Chanukah Festival, annually the largest Chanukah Festival in the world for nearly four decades, will take place at Gulfstream Park and Casino, in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Over 10,000 people have participated each year at this Mega Chanukah Event, with many tourists from around the world flocking to Hallandale Beach each year to attend the South Florida Chanukah Festival.
Starring at the Festival will be the King of Jewish Music, Avraham Fried. Also featured at the Chanukah Festival will be the sensational singer Dovid Gabay, the lighting of Florida’s Largest Menorah, Chanukah gelt, goodies and a glamorous program for children and more.
The event is free of charge and is a project of Chabad of South Broward, leaders in Jewish education, outreach and social services. Many community leaders will participate this year, as always, including Florida Lieutenant Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera.
Coordinating the Festival is Rabbi Levi Tennenhaus, program director of Chabad of South Broward Headquarters. Co-Directors of Chabad of South Broward Headquarters are Rabbi and Mrs. Raphael and Goldie Tennenhaus, who founded Chabad in Broward County in 1980. 15 Chabad Centers operate under the auspices of Chabad of South Broward.
Chabad of South Broward Headquarters is home to over 45 agencies, including the CHAI Tots Preschool (125 children with a large waiting list), the Hallandale Hebrew Club (110 children with a long waiting list), the Chaya Aydel Seminary, Florida’s only Teachers’ College for Women, 3 Mikvahs for the physically challenged, a Kollel for businessmen and professionals, Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah and CTeen Clubs, the Friendship Circle for children and teenagers with special needs, Chabad of South Broward’s’ Main Synagogue, with 3 morning services every weekday at the Max and Eve Rubenstein Main Campus, Camp Gan Israel (300 children) and scores of other programs.
“The lights of the Menorah represent the victory of freedom from religious oppression, and a victory against terror and tyranny,” said Rabbi Raphael Tennenhaus. “Now, more than ever, this message must resonate throughout the world.”
