Chabad outposts can be found in Thailand, New Zealand, and even Babyland.
The 9th annual Babyland exhibition was held last week in the Exhibition Gardens of Tel Aviv, giving parents a world of knowledge and products for pregnancy, childbirth, and infants until the age of two years.
Dozens of leading Israeli companies presented large pavilions with innovative products, surprises and gifts for visitors in a large expo area that extends over 96,875 square ft.
One of the presenters at the three-day expo was a colorful booth of Chabad proudly displaying a portrait of the Rebbe to the 30,000 visitors from Tuesday to Thursday.
The space for Chabad was sponsored by Phillip Chaddad, the producer of the expo, to allow Chassidim to offer spirituality to Israelis starting parenthood and young parents.
It was manned by a team from the Chish Hafatzos Hamaayanos publishing group, run by Rabbi Chaim Reichman, and Rabbi Shmuel Greisman, Director of the Children’s Sefer Torah office in Israel.
Joined by Lubavitchers from Kfar Chabad and Tel Aviv, they helped hundreds of men put on Tefillin and gave out some 4,000 Shir Hamaalos cards for the protection of newborns and their mothers.
Young children were invited to be photographed doing a Mitzvah by putting tzadakah in a charity box. Chabad girls were on hand to give out more than 10,000 sets of Shabbos candles and times for candle lighting.
When afternoon came around, minyanim for Mincha and Maariv were held there, only adding to the popularity of the Chabad stand. Visitors and expo staff took part in the prayers.
A central object of the Chabad booth was to enroll children in the Children’s Sefer Torah campaign, a special scroll written at the instruction of the Rebbe for all Jewish children to partake in.
Rabbi Greisman reported that during the expo, more than 2,000 children signed up to dedicate their own letter in the Torah. He encouraged Shluchim to do the same at similar community events or festivals in their cities.
