NYS Senator Jesse Hamilton, NYS Assembly Member Dov Hikind, NYC Council Member David Greenfield and community advocates will call on New York State Congress members to oppose the Iran Nuclear deal on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 in front of the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights.
In addition, community residents Rabbi Jacob Goldstein and Devorah Halberstam will join in urging members of Congress to vote “no” on the Iran nuclear deal.
Rabbi Jacob Goldstein, Chaplain Colonel (Ret.) of the US Armed Forces, served 38 years in the military including five deployed combat missions. Devorah Halberstam is the mother of the late Ari Halberstam, who was killed in the terrorist shooting on the Brooklyn Bridge in 1994.
“Iran Nuclear Deal supporters focus on the early years. Well, what happens when Iran receives generous upfront sanctions relief?” says NYS Senator Jesse Hamilton. “When tens of billions of dollars go to terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah or to groups who have plotted attacks in Buenos Aires, Berlin, Jerusalem, and Washington DC? And further down the line, this deal allows restrictions to phase out over time. I stand with my community in demanding a better deal: prevent sponsorship of terror, stop Iran menacing us and our allies, and don’t rely on trusting words from Iran to assure our security,” Hamilton says.
“The deal with Iran, the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism, is extraordinarily naive and dangerous,” said NYS Assembly Member Dov Hikind. “Based on initial reports, this is a total capitulation. The only winner is Iran. The deal essentially paves Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon,” Hikind says.
“I am proud of Senator Schumer and other members of New York’s Congressional delegation for standing up for the Jewish community, Israel and America’s security. My problem with the Iran deal is simple: it’s a bad deal. It does not protect anyone. It is time that our Brooklyn representatives followed Schumer’s lead and let Obama know that we can negotiate a better deal for America,” said Councilman Greenfield.
Cantor Shlomie Rabin will sing a prayer for peace and a prayer in memory of all those lost in terror attack worldwide. Shlomie serves as a senior cantor in Midtown Manhattan and has performed in Israel, Australia, Spain and Ukraine.
It’s about time were actually doing something about this in our community
A big yashaar koach to this non Jewish NYS Senator for going out on a limb unlike many of his colleagues in government, to stand up for whats right. Please go out to show our appreciation and stand for security and peace on Wednesday, 6pm at the JCM.
In addition to a two thirds majority overriding an Obama veto in the case of the Iran deal if necessary, is it also possible to override a presidential veto through 3/4 of the state legislatures?
Moveon.org “Yemach Shemom”. is starting to show thei ugly head and targetting members of congress…….
The organizers should arrange for transportation for older folks & those who must walk in the heat for long blocks. We have many unused school busses now & several large vehicles from Shalom Center. Frankly, I have never understood why our community doesn’t arrange for transportation on election days as many other places do. Please keep us posted about what arrangements have been made ASAP. We need a serious turn-out and offering a ride will definitely help.
hundred of thousands need to protest in washington and on the streets and make huge chaos
There should be a huge crowd. The rebbe did not believe in protests against Russia. This is a different story it is saloons nefoshos for our brethren in Israel ch”v and it’s a different regime . This should also give Obama a message Finally the world sees you for what you are
Enough said See you at the rally
This is not only about Jews, it is more about the entire America, which the terrorists hate just as much.
