Members, friends and supporters of the Chai Center Chabad Synagogue, Preschool and Community Center in Coral Springs, Florida, gathered for the grand opening of their new building on Thursday.
The newly built Jewish community center is set to be an important cornerstone in the lives of Jewish people in South Florida.
The grand opening was a lively event that brought together members of the community from all across South Florida.
Congressman Ted Deutch (Florida’s 21st District) spoke to the crowd of eager listeners and received roaring applause at several points, especially after stating his opposition to the Iran deal.
Congressman Deutch, one of the only Jewish democrats to come out against the Iran deal, remarked that Chabad communities such as the one in Coral Springs are a source of inspiration to him, especially when he must go against the stream in the Halls of Congress to stand up for the Jewish people.
Despite the rain that threatened to pour, attendees at the event had a wonderful time touring the facility and listening to musical selections from the band Kosher Rock.
The Chai Center in Coral Springs has been a true labor of love for Shluchim Rabbi Hershy Bronstein and his wife Chanie, along with the members of their close-knit community.
Hard work from multiple committees have turned this dream into a reality. The new building is set to be a multipurpose space with a Shul, kosher kitchen, social room, and preschool. The state of the art facility is a dream for Rabbi Bronstein and his wife who have been working toward this goal since establishing the community in 2005.
“It’s been a dream of the Rabbi’s,” said community member Allen Kopelman. “The building is a landmark on a major intersection. It’s important to have a presence, and the Rabbi always taught us, ‘You’ve got to create a vessel and believe,'” he said.
“The Chai center is going to be a magnet for the local Jewish community,” says Bart Dinin, another member. “We’re all expecting a tremendous impact in drawing new, young families who want to reconnect with their roots and their children with Judaism. I know that the beauty of the new building and the comfort of the space will attract tremendous interest.”
Hatzlacha raba in this amazing new space!
