Hundreds turned out for the RCCS Summer Barbecue event in Flatbush Tuesday, benefitting the organization which assists cancer patients.
Once again, the two neighboring communities of Crown Heights and Marine Park were invited to participate. Funds raised will benefit the scores of cancer-stricken patients in the Flatbush, Marine Park and Crown Heights communities.
The outdoor barbecue took place at East 22nd Street and Avenue I, in front of the home of Pinny and Yaffa Rand, and included entrees, mouth-watering accoutrements, wine tasting, sushi and exciting raffle prizes and entertainment by the Mezamrim choir. The exciting program included a mini auction and a grand raffle of a car lease.
Rabbi Moshe Klein, who heads up the Crown Heights branch of RCCS, led the public recitation of Tehillim on behalf of all Cholei Yisroel and the wounded soldiers in Eretz Yisroel.
Community service awards were presented to Mendy Wilhelm, Chairman of the RCCS Crown Heights Young Initiative Committee, Rabbi Zvi Elimelech Rokeach, Mara D’Asra Bais Mordechai D’Bertch and Dr. Danny Sherwinter, Director Minimally Invasive Abdominal & Bariatric Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center.
RCCS Flatbush Division is in memory of Tziporah Faiga Gelb a”h and the BBQ is in memory of Chedva Freidel Rand a”h. The Crown Heights Chapter is in honor of the Rubashkin Family. Additionally, the evening has been dedicated to the refuah of ליבא פיגאא בן דוד שבתי.
Each year, RCCS saves the lives of hundreds of cancer-stricken patients in need by subsidizing their health insurance premiums, thus providing them access to the best possible medical care. Today, RCCS subsidizes insurance policies for over 350 cancer-stricken patients each year, and provides hundreds more with emergency medical subsidies, insurance advocacy, social services, and medical direction.
