Rabbi Chaim Yisroel Wilhelm, a teacher and rabbi in Crown Heights, was appointed as the new principal of the 8th grade mechina division at Educational Institute Oholei Torah in Crown Heights.
Rabbi Wilhelm, currently the teacher of Shiur Beis class at Oholei Torah’s Mesivta, is replacing Rabbi Sholom Goldstein who is taking a position in the administrative offices of the Chabad boys school.
Rabbi Wilhelm is the Rabbi of Nosson’s Shul at 534 Empire Blvd in Crown Heights. Founded in memory of Chabad bochur Nosson Nota Deitsch OBM, classmates and friends come to the vibrant shul for davening, learning and farbrenging.
At Oholei Torah Mesivta he has proved to be a charismatic educator, leading students to excellence in learning and joining them for rewarding Shabbaton trips. One such trip was to Moodus, Connecticut when his 20 of his students completed 30 pages of Gemara.
The vacancy of Goldstein’s position was originally meant to be filled by Rabbi Michoel Druin, 47, a veteran educator who has moved to New York in 2010. Oholei Torah’s Director Rabbi Joseph Rosenfeld has since rescinded from the hire.
A dean for the boys school has yet to be named.
A chassidishe yid with a very warm personality.
7th grade too or just 8th grade. If the latter, then what will be with 7th grade, is R Lustig assuming that position?
This is a great choice. Huge Tamild Chochom, and very well suits this position. Much success.
He helped his father Zushe in HS in many ways and challenged and connected with each student. Now the HS has a big void.
Re: Dean – We have one named Divi… 😉
