This past Shabbos Parshas Chukas saw the collaboration of 2 up and coming mosdos in the ever expanding world of the Rebbe and his Shluchim: Chabad of Penn Wynne, PA, under the dynamic leadership of Rabbi Moshe and Devorah Brennan, and Gan Yisroel Poconos under the able direction of Rabbi and Mrs. Gershon Sandler.
Chabad of Penn Wynne has become an attraction to families wishing to be close to a Chabad House and has seen amazing growth with many families moving in within the last year alone. The recent growth is accredited to all the amenities the community has to offer, including Kosher food, restaurants and chinuch, as well as many affordable housing options.
The Chabad Center is located within the sprawling campus of the Kaiserman JCC, enabling them to utilize the many facets of the campus. In just a few years the Chabad House has developed from a Shabbos morning minyan into a cohesive Chabad community. Current activities include JLI, holiday programs, individual and group shiurim as well as Shabbos Minyanim and much more.
Camp Gan Israel Retreat in the scenic Poconos region of Pennsylvania, is one of the latest facilities under the Rebbe’s camping system of “Camp Gan Yisroel.”
Gan Israel Retreat in the Poconos has become an ideal location for Shabbatons and Yom Tov programs as well as their signature summer program for girls from the public school system, a first in the Chabad camping network. Rabbi and Mrs Sandler bring with them many years of camping experience having directed the Running Springs facility in the mountains just outside Los Angeles.
This past Shabbos Over 70 people from Chabad of Penn Wynne spent an uplifting Shabbos ( espite the less than perfect weather) at Camp Gan Yisroel in the Poconos.
Upon arriving guests were treated to swimming, boating and a pre Shabbos bbq.
Shabbos was a marathon of inspirational services and Farbrengen’s led by Rabbi Lipa Brennan, lectures and classes by Scholar-in-Residence Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Ehrenreich, a phenomenal children’s program, and of course lavish meals on Shabbos, Motzei Shabbos and Sunday morning, prepared by Yossel Brod and his staff.
The Shabbaton concluded with new friendships being made & for all the participants, a deeper awareness of their rich heritage. A commitment to implement some of the many Mitzvos that were spoken about during the Shabbos started right away Sunday morning when A former judge in the NY criminal court system, put on tefillin for the first time in a long time.
