On Sunday evening, over 200 people from the wide spectrum of Brooklyn Jews packed into the main room of the Ocean Parkway Jewish Center in honor of Gimmel Tammuz.
As the crowd entered the room, they were greeted by beautifully displayed refreshments including a salad bar, cakes, and fruits.
Rabbi Yehuda Levin opened the evening by thanking the co-hosts of the evening, his father Rabbi Moshe Chaim Levin of Chabad of Kensington and Rabbi Mordechai Kornblit of Ohel Moshe Chevra Tehilim Lubavitch.
The guest speaker was Rabbi Moshe Bryski, Director of Chabad of the Conejo in Agoura Hills, California, and a gifted teacher and lecturer. Having spoken around the globe, this was Bryski’s first appearance in Brooklyn since he studied there 36 years ago.

The packed room listened attentively, as Rabbi Bryski made them laugh and cry throughout the captivating speech, titled “Seizing Life’s Moments”, expounding on the art of learning how to recognize those special moments in our life and to seize them, so that we live a more meaningful and productive life.
Interspersed throughout were anecdotes and personal stories with insights of the Rebbe on this topic. He concluded with the Rebbe’s call to each and every one of us to do what we can to bring Moshiach as being our generations “moment.”
“The atmosphere in the room was electrifying,” “That was a truly special event,” were the comments heard from the crowd, as they made their way out from this inspirational evening in honor of the Rebbe.
Rabbi Moishe Bryski is one of the great orators in Lubavitch of our time, with true feeling and sense of what Lubavitch truly is – however – as I recall, Rabbi Bryski did speak in the past at the Kinus Hashluchim in Brooklyn.
