New Shluchim to Brisbane

Rabbi Shneur and Mushkie Hecht, along with their two children, Tzivia and Mendel, have been appointed as directors of two new divisions of Chabad of Brisbane, Australia.

The Hechts will arrive in Brisbane from the US next month to spearhead the launch and implementation of Chabad Brisbane Teens and Young Jewish Adults of Brisbane (YJAB).

The new Shluchim were appointed by Brisbane Head Shliach Rabbi Levi Jaffe.

“Both Rabbi Shneur and Mushkie are warm and friendly individuals, who have proven to be well experienced in engaging with teenagers and young adults, and general community outreach in the USA and the UK,” said Rabbi Jaffe.

The new divisions run by the Hechts will cater primarily to unaffiliated teenagers, young Jewish adults, university students and professionals, aged 12-18 (Chabad Teens) and 18 – 25 (YJAB).

Among the programs to be offered are Monthly Jewish Teens Club, JLI (Jewish Learning Institute) Teens, Shabbat Dinners and Shabbaton Weekend Retreats, University Campus Programs and Jewish singles events.

In anticipation of their arrival to Brisbane, Rabbi Shneur Hecht commented, “Mushkie and I are looking forward to coming to Brisbane, as we have heard so many wonderful things about the community. We are particularly excited to meet the many teenagers and young adults and to enhance the Jewish communal infrastructure, by introducing and maintaining educational and social initiatives for this demographic.

“Our objective is to connect all those Jewish youth and young adults with the community, and to educate them and integrate them, with a view to becoming the future responsible moms and dads, leaders, and regular Synagogue and communal event attenders,” said Hecht.
