Amid an inspiring and happy gathering, 10 bochurim of Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim in Morristown, NJ, celebrated the completion of 16 complete tractates of Talmud totaling some 1000 pages.
Another student spoke about his achievement of learning 70 ‘dafim’ in Yevamos, one of the three most difficult tractates of the entire Talmud.
All this was in addition to the regular academic schedule of the entire student body learning tractate Gittin which is being covered this year by all the Yeshivos globally.
An electrifying feeling of elation was felt throughout the campus of the Rabbinical College of America. Speaking with great humility, the bochurim expressed elation and gratefulness to Hashem for this accomplishment, as a Torah gift to the Rebbe for 3 Tammuz.
The parents of the students also spoke by telephone with gratitude and pride. New Jersey’s Head Shliach and dean of the Yeshiva, Rabbi Moshe Herson noted, “this is the 21st year since Gimmel Tammuz, which is the numerical value for the Hebrew word ‘Ach Tov L’Yisroel’ – may it only be good for the Jewish people.”
Beautiful certificates were conferred to each of the 10 students by Rabbi Herson before the Yeshiva sat down for a Seudas Mitzvah, a meal in honor of the completion, as customary.
The studious bochurim also took a group photo: Menachem Mendel Cohen of Montreal, Canada; Menachem Mendel Goodman of Brooklyn, NY; Aryeh Leib Herson of Basking Ridge, NJ; Menachem Mendel Levin of Kfar Chabad, Israel; Gedalya Polter of Oak Park, MI; Yaakov Sirota of Morristown, NJ; Noach Zeiler of Monsey, NY.
Additional bochurim, absent from the picture, are Elimelech Backman of Albany, NY; Shmuel Hartman of Brooklyn, NY and Dovid Goldberg of Morristown, NJ.
