Deborah Gordon has always said she grew up in a paint can.
Her father was a painter and decorator who taught her color and design as she watched him weave his magic on walls and murals. And so she began to weave a tapestry of color which became her life.
As a bride, Gordon received a blessing from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. “Whatever you do,” he said, “you will pass with flying colors.”
Later, she had the privilege of studying under the foremost color authority of our time, the late Suzanne Caygill, originator of the color palette and seasonal theories.
Caygill became her mentor, under whom she studied color mechanics, art, history, fashion and interior design.
In 1994, Gordon opened Flying Colors Incorporated, and the tapestry came to life. She shares her gifts and talents with all of her clientele.
The work is both physical and spiritual and helps the client on many levels.
Gordon reads a person from the inside out and with love and intuition, guides the client through his or her natural harmony.
This harmony consists of skin tones, hemoglobin, eye and hair colors.
The entire palette is a guide to the clothing, make-up, line and design best suited to each individual client.
“These colors are our greatest innate gift from G-d,” she explains. “The eye is the window to the soul and through its color the inner self is revealed.”
In Gordon’s Encino, California studio, with its laboratory of 2700 colors, she creates individual palettes for each person.
Gordon has traveled throughout the Unites States and has done her color work overseas as far away as Melbourne, Australia.
She has been featured on many TV shows, such as “Hour magazine” in the United States and “Oolala,” a Canadian show that was seen in eight countries.
Gordon has helped design Chabad centers up and down the West Coast as well as throughout the United States and abroad.
She and her husband Rabbi Joshua Gordon are Shluchim of the Rebbe in Encino, California since 1973.
Gordon counsels people of all walks of life applying her method of color therapy, guiding them toward their individual spiritual destination.
It is Gordon’s greatest desire to make a difference in people’s lives through this work while opening the world of color to them.

I brought all my daughters to D Gordon for color guidance when they were teens. She helped each girl learn her own personal style. We saved alot of money in the long run because now they only buy what is really suitable for them. As they became kallahs, we saved alot of time and money. She guided with everything from jewelry choices to dish patterns to linen colors to gown details. It was speedy and much more economical. They love their purchases and enjoy using them years later because it really reflects who they are. There was a big emphasis… Read more »
