Two people were injured in a fire that damaged a store and two apartments in Crown Heights on Friday morning, fire officials said.
The blaze broke out just after 10 a.m. at 216 Rogers Ave. between Union and President streets and was under control by 10:51 a.m., according to the FDNY.
Officials said two people were transported to Kings County Hospital and were treated for minor injuries.
The fire damaged the facade and interior of the three-story Rogers Avenue building, which contains a first-floor variety store and two apartments, according to photos from witnesses and property records. The FDNY marshal will determine the cause of the blaze, fire officials said.
A video posted on Twitter by user Monica Costillo shows smoke billowing over rooftops in the neighborhood. “Got the text I never wanted from a roommate. There’s a building 3 doors down on fire,” she wrote.
WE WANT MOSHIACH NOW!!!!!!!
Great picture Ruvi.
Jewish or not Jewish that is a terrible tragedy!! So sad😭
I looked at the picture and thought to myself, ‘Okay, so I get how it would damage the upper floor’s windows, but HOW DID IT DAMAGE THE STORE?? And not just that, only the windows of the upper floor should be damaged [unless there were curtains that caught and the curtains spread the fire ch”v], what happened there?’
Ahhhh, it’s all made of wood, the whole interior is made of wood, even the floors and ceilings dividing the levels. Ahhh, now I get it.
Build with concrete, it’ll help contain fires.
was it a jewish house???
