Rabbi Jacob Goldstein was honored at Wednesday night’s meeting of Brooklyn Community Board 9 on the occasion of his recent retirement from the US military after 38 years of service.
The crowd applauded as a stream of elected officials and their representatives presented Rabbi Goldstein with proclamations describing his dedicated service to the community as board chairman, as well as his distinguished service to the United States.
Presenting the honors were New York City Council Members Laurie Cumbo, Mathieu Eugene and Darlene Mealy, and representatives of Mayor deBlasio, State Senator Jesse Hamilton, and State Assemblyman Walter Mosely.
For thirty eight years Rabbi Goldstein proudly represented Jewish values and enhanced Jewish pride in the armed forces
He was beloved by staff as well as armed forces members.
He did this by never compromising his Chassidic and Torah values.
What an accomplishment!

General in HaShem’s Army. So proud of him, and what a message that he refused to trim his beard throughout his military career. And don’t forget the kavod he brought to the Lag B’omer parade! G-d bless Rabbi Goldstein.
