A 60-year-old man choked and assaulted a 59-year-old woman after luring the woman into the basement of an apartment building on Albany Avenue, police said.
The victim, who did not know her assailant, was sitting on a park bench on Eastern Parkway at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday night, police said, when the suspect approached her and started a conversation.
The suspect then led the victim to an apartment building on Albany Avenue after the victim stated she needed to find a restroom. The suspect then directed the victim into the basement of the apartment building and proceeded to assault her while in the basement stairwell.
The suspect then fled, police said. EMS responded and transported the victim to an area hospital where she was treated and released.
The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in locating and identifying the individual who is described as follows: Male, black, approximately 60 years-old, approximately 5’10”, approximately 200lbs. The suspect has a Caribbean accent and has a scarred and discolored eye.
