The annual dinner of Yad L’Ezra iVolunteer program in Melbourne, Australia, honored over 100 girls for volunteering their time and doing community chesed work on Sunday, May 17.
Students of Beth Rivkah Ladies College Secondary School comprise the five divisions of the organization include visiting the elderly, tutoring, big and Lil sister, help at home, and fundraising.
The girls visit many homes in the community on a weekly basis to help local families with the children and light housework. They are paired up with girls in primary school to help them with their homework and study, or as a mentor in the Big and Lil Sister division.
They also bring joy to many elderly men and women living in nursing homes, and have amazing fundraisers constantly, raising money for a myriad of causes. Yad L’Ezra iVolunteer is a joint project of Chabad Youth Melbourne and Beth Rivkah Ladies College Secondary School.
At the gala dinner, attended by 200 parents, students and proud Beth Rivkah and Chabad Youth faculty members, girls shared the enjoyment they gain from volunteering and the way in which the process of giving really gave them so much more than they invested.
They were delighted to partake in a Chinese Auction prepared exclusively for them, as well as receive a gift bag.
Mrs. Tamar Moscow shared her pride in her daughters’ accomplishments as they have been volunteers for nearly five years now.
Another speaker represented the many recipients and relayed the way the Yad L’Ezra iVolunteer girls made her day so much easier. She thanked them for helping her with the daily excitement of young children, and always leaving her home with so much accomplished.
The dinner, the decor, and the beautiful atmosphere were the product of countless hours invested by the Beth Rivkah Ladies College Secondary Shluchot Chaya Kosofsky and Nechama Raskin.
The parent committee of YLIV who help to ensure that the program can grow maximally, with safety as its first priority, were thanked: Mrs. Devora Rochel Herszberg, Mrs. Debbie Wolf, Mrs. Rivka Liberow, Mrs. Sheiny New and Mrs. Miri Lipskier.
