Everything is possible with God

@#16 You got to think like a Torah Yid:

It is a mitzvah to bear children even in older age look in Shulchan Oruch. Hopefully his parents will live till 120 and will be able to dance at his wedding and if not chas ve sholom then it is a mitzvah to help and orphan a widow etc. one of the mitzvot we Jewish people excel in and when such a child would grow up for sure he will help many others.

Really

Sarah was 90 – and conceived naturally. Now that was amazing.

Amazing!
May 20, 2015 10:12 pm

Sarah was slightly older. Will the mother call her son Isaac?

Thrilled!
May 20, 2015 3:07 am

I am thrilled for the family and for us all ! When Hashem gives a new life, it is always a miracle. All births are miracles!! …and this one is extra special since it teaches us the power of strong emunah in Hashem, coupled with the fine medical care, and the will to keep trying, no matter what ! That’s a powerful lesson ! Let this be a simcha for all of us, and may this baby grow to be a great blessing to Am Yisrael !

Please don’t quote the Rebbe out of context. The Rebbe’s words were in reference to women in their natural childbearing years. Couples unable to conceive were given a directive to adopt. Besides being Halachically questionable, this procedure is unnatural. It’s called tempting fate, something which Chaza”l have frowned upon. There is in fact a story where the Baal Shem Tov gave an elderly couple a blessing for a child, which they later had. The father came later to complain to the Baal Shem Tov that he doesn’t have the strength to care for the child due to his advanced age…… Read more »

beautiful news, and IYH they will havethe koach to raise him!

Hashem gives the kochos
May 19, 2015 5:43 pm

The Rebbe spoke multiple times about “family planning,” responding to the claim that having another child would require too much energy, money, time, etc. The point was that Hashem is the one who blesses a couple with a child, and along with each child comes all of the kochos that they will need in order to raise him/her. This case is a little different, but the point is the same. The fact that Hashem gave this couple a child is a sign that He will also give them the strength to take care of him, no matter how impractical it… Read more »

Nes
May 19, 2015 4:14 pm

OK it’s a nes. It also, if it is ‘ sanctified ‘ by certain rabbis, will set a precedent for all sorts of partnerhips to use this method of having children. Will these be considered ‘miracles’ as well (a gift from Hashem). Just because it can be done, and has been done . . .. It is fantastic opportunity for young/ish married Jewish normally infertile couples but to be sure it will soon become an alternative way if procuring a family.

I don’t know if she did ivf but either way, not everyone can keep the eggs through the treatment. There is actually a good chance that the implantation fails.. And more importantly, where is a the emuna? If hashem decided that she is capable to be a mother it means she is. We shouldn’t judge someone without being in their shoes . and aside whoever once went to Ripley’s believe it or not, there’s a case of an indigenous woman giving birth at 101

happy one
May 19, 2015 2:37 pm

to # 5,9,25,38. I feel bad for your lack of immuna. If they would use any not natural methods they wouldn’t be waiting until their present age! Even so what do you care about Hashem’s way of planning our destiny time??? May Hashem bless new parents and a baby and all jews who still dont believe an open miracles with health, wealth, wisdom, happiness and joy in every single moment.

nes
May 19, 2015 12:36 pm

for all the people here who said its no nes because it wa ivf , its still a nes as someone who has gone through ivf myself.. when you finally become pregnant after many failed attempts its a huge nes!! like someone else here wrote so many times you can have good embryos that dont implant.. after so many weeks filled with stim shots. going in for 6 am morning monitering, retrievals, transfers, and finally getting the postive preg test and then waiting for the first trimester to be over so youre hopfeully out of the woods its a huge… Read more »

Frozen her own egg? She’s well past the age of natural menopause. Even if it was frozen 10 years ago (highly doubtful) it would have been an old egg, thus unhealthy and unusable.

Unexpected things happen to young people as well. We all have to rely on H’ kindness. Besides the article mentions they have a supportive extended family

How selfish. There is a reason why Hashem made our bodies stop being able to give birth (naturally) at a certain age.

Who will take care of this child? Is a 70 year old really going to run after a five year old?

If this was done through IVF I wonder if the doctors would have discussed the ethics behind this. If this was done naturally I wonder if the parents thought about the welfare of the baby over their strong will to have a child as their age is already up there….

When a young child is left as an orphan we cry and feel bad for the child. We ask how can a child be left without parents. The parents have possibly set up their child to be left in such a situation CH”V

They mention donor sperm but curiously do not mention donor egg, which was used without a shadow of doubt. Was the egg donor Jewish is the question.
Nowadays it is possible to implant donated embryos in elderly women. Not a nes and not a hard thing to do as the uterus does not age as dramatically as the ovaries do. It does not change the fact that the child these women bear are not genetically related to them.
