Rabbi Laime Wilhelm will be joining the faculty of Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim in Morristown, New Jersey, Rabbi Moshe Herson, Dean of the Rabbinical College of America, has announced on Thursday.
Rabbi Wilhelm, who has led the Lubavitch Mesivta in Detroit in recent years, will start serving this coming Elul 5775 as “one of the principal Roshei Yeshivos and Mashpiim of the Morristown Yeshiva” giving shiurim in Nigleh and Chassidus.
“We are very happy to have him in our midst,” Rabbi Herson said in a statement, which included Rabbi Wilhelm’s remark that he “looks forward to a successful tenure in one of the Rebbe’s principal mosdos.”
Rabbi Wilhelm will report directly to Rabbi Chaim Schapiro who was recently appointed to the position of Menahel Ruchni of the veteran Yeshiva, alongside his leadership of the successful smicha ordination program.
Recent changes at the leadership of the Yeshiva include Rabbi Aharon Gancz being transferred from the Yeshiva to the Smicha, alongside Rabbi Avrohom Levin. Additionally, Gancz will continue to give halacha shiurim to selected students of the Yeshiva as was done recently.
Rabbi Elimelech Zweibel, Head Mashpia of the Yeshiva, and Rabbi Mendy Herson, Executive Director of Chabad of Greater Somerset County who is part of the Yeshiva’s administration, pledged to assume a greater role in the day-to-day management.
“The chinuch of our children must be the priority of the entire Chabad community, especially after 3 Tammuz,” Rabbi Moshe Herson said. “Parents, students, administration and faculty must constantly work together in the vigil of our children, the future of Klal Yisroel. Concerned parents must become more involved.”
Further changes will be announced in due time, COLlive was told.
