400,000 at Mount Meron

Some 400,000 people attended the festivities last night at Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai's tomb in Mount Meron. At 8:30 pm Monday the Boyan Rebbe lit the first bonfire, giving the signal to the opening of the annual celebrations. 150 people were injured. Photos

i was at meiron and it was so beautiful seeing many boys and girls who are in israel for the year doing mivtzoyim, handing out rebbe cards and making a true kiddush lubavitch which inspired everyone who saw. congratulations moshe and friends!

its a minhag to burn clothes in the bonfires of lag baomer. one reason given is that the rashbi and reb elozor didn’t use clothes while they were learning in the cave (they covered themselves with the earth).
i also heard that that the rashbi was on the level of adam harishon before the cheit eitz hadaas (when adam didn’t wear clothes) or something along thise lines.
