Legendary piano virtuoso Yaron Gershovsky has teamed up with Chabad music producer Zalman Goldstein to produce a new deeply inspiring solo piano album of Chabad niggunim entitled “Yom Tov Farbregen.”
This timely recording presents all the traditional melodies of the Rebbeim that are sung at farbregnen at the conclusion of Rosh Hashana, Simchas Torah, Pesach, and Shavuos.
Goldstein, who is also an author, points to the Frierdiker Rebbe‘s saying that when one sings a song, he connects with the soul of the person that composed or cherished the song “in an attachment deeper than achieved through intellect alone.”
With the instruction from the Rebbe to sing niggunim associated with his predecessors at the Rosh Hashana farbrengen, it has become a custom among chassidim to sing niggunim at the conclusion of Simchas Torah, Pesach and Shavuos as well.
The niggunim Daled Bovos and Nye Zheritzi Chloptzi, both included in the new album, were also sung at the conclusion of all major Farbrengens and are customarily preceded by the Niggun Hachono, included in the album as well.
“Yom Tov Farbrengen” will be available in stores and online at www.ChabadMusic.com and on iTunes immediately after Shavuos on May 26, 2015.
“Over the years I’ve received many emails and requests to create an album specifically dedicated to these songs,” says Goldstein, whose 15 stellar albums of Chabad music are popularly featured on iTunes™ (search: Zalman Goldstein).
“Many find themselves confused at the end of Yom Yov farbrengen over which songs are sung and how they go,” he said. “Even though I was privileged to produce over 250 tracks of Chabad niggunim over the past 20 years, I have not recorded the specific set of niggunim of the Rebbeim as sung at Yom Tov farbrengen as its own component — but now it’s done!”
Goldstein told COLlive.com he hopes the new album will benefit people as a learning tool and “as yet another demonstration of the sublime and beautiful musical heritage we have as Chabad chassidim.”

I like the understated way they are played which is refined and not showy – very much in keeping with the ‘dveikus’ atmosphere; even in the fast ones.
Kol Hakavod for such beautiful music!
Prof. Jeanne Zaidel-Rudolph, Composer-pianist. Music Dept., University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
I totally agree with you.
Gershon Wachterl should may his own recording.
It helps when you live and learn and express yourself, as an actual chossid.
The Benoni, kapelya, nye zeuritzi were all already recorded by him. Why don’t they record something else instead like shamil?
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t hire Gershon Wachtel to do this album. Besides being a world renowned pianist having played on 6 continents and being a Chabad Chasid, he has a unique ability to not only play the music, but also to express his very soul in the music. Anyone who has witnessed Gershon playing can clearly see that he is in another world.

I always have a hard time remembering the nigunim, I’m sure this will make it easier.
Very Nice, Excellent Pianist.
Why not have it available during shloshes yemei hagbala?
Hasn’t the mittler rebbes kapelye already been done by him?
I love his guts to just play the niggunim simple and unadorned with too much distraction just the way the Rebbe would have enjoyed. I recall hearing that the Rebbe wasn’t pleased with the later volumes of Nichoach because they started to become unkepatchket.
Good job Zalman Goldstein for continuing to keep our music clean and pure as it is meant to be!
I will surely be buying a copy to support your work.

This is a masterpiece. Well done
Thank you for bringing these negunim to us and our children
So beautifully done ….
This album puts all the “new” music to shame
Keep it up and keep them company
Thank you
Very simple yet authentic and-with ‘Yiddishe taam’ without too much show-off (aka ‘shtick’..)
well done.
I was so fortuate to have been taught by one of the greatest!
Yaron is a legend!
Keep up the great work of the rebbe
