1940’s Yeshiva Photos Found

Photos of students at the Lubavitch Yeshivah on Bedford and Dean in Brooklyn, NY in the mid-1940's, were recently found in a family's collections and were released by Lubavitch Archives. Can you identify them? Photos

Seems strange, not one black suit and not one black hat. Did the baalei tshuvah introduce the new dress codes?

It is an inspiration to see smartly dressed Lubavitch yeshiva Bochurim.
Where did the Rebbe speak against ties? Or Bochurim with shirts in?
I think it is a shame that Lubavitch has become synonymous with scruffiness

I was thinking the same thing. Not to mention that they are all properly tucked in. They also weren’t crazy about only dark suits, pants, and hats.

They are the brothers R’ Moshe and R’ Hershel Rubin (later both of Montreal, z”l), who arrived in NY from Tomchei Tmimim of Shanghai in 1946.

1st one is Reb Hirshel Rubin obm of Montreal
2nd is Reb Moshe Rubin OBM His brother also from montreal

3rd one is am almost certain Reb Moshe Shapochinsky from Montreal

the second is Rabbi Moshe Rubin a’h
the third is his younger brother, Rabbi Hershel (Tzvi)
