A new Chabad mesivta is opening up this coming school year in Monsey, NY, offering young Chabad bochurim a blend of traditional Gemara learning with general studies and physical fitness.
Mesivta Lev Tmimim Lubavitch is will provide a high level academic curriculum of Limudei Kodesh, as well as secular studies with the option to work towards a New York State Regents diploma.
Rabbi Gil Hami, its founder and director, says that the additional activities will come “without the slightest compromise on level of Yiddishkeit, Chassidishkeit, Yiras Shomayim and Lubavitch values and Hiskashrus to the Rebbe.”
Rabbi Hami, formerly of the Mesivta Lubavitch of Monsey, stated that the program for 13 and 14-year-old is “rooted on the foundation of professionalism, accountability, communication and responsiveness to parents’ concerns.”
He will be joined by a faculty comprised of Rabbi Dovber Kahn, Rabbi Dovid Vidrin, Rabbi Moshe Aharon Backman and Rabbi Reuven Roth.
The Mesivta will begin its first year on Elul 5775 with an emphasis on “a pure and wholesome, nurturing environment,” according to Rabbi Hami. “They will benefit from a rigorous program of Limudei Kodesh and learn core general studies subjects in an organized and structured manner.”
During the year, the Mesivta will involve bochurim in community Mivtzoim programs, as well as teaching communication and public speaking skills and diverse extra curricular activities and physical fitness.
