MyLife: Chassidus Applied Episode 64
Community is an integral component in Judaism. A Shul stands at the hub of Shabbos and holidays, Torah study and prayer. But what can you do if you are not inspired by your community and synagogue? Or if you feel you have outgrown them?
In response to many passionate comments to last week’s discussion on character refinement, Rabbi Jacobson will respond to the challenge: How to create an a personality-development revolution in our educational systems, through a combined partnership between parents and schools.
Other topics to be addressed in this week’s episode include: “My father is destroying himself. He does almost nothing with his life. Eats too much. Is extremely overweight and does not sleep well. It is very difficult to see him this way. We as children have tried many different ways to get him to take care of himself but to no avail. What can we do? Is there any hope?”
“Although all of the answers to life’s challenges are in Torah in general and in Chassidus in particular, it can often be difficult to find and trace the solution to these specific issues in Torah. Can we study psychology or other philosophies and trace their source in Torah/Chassidus in order to directly deal with an issue the way psychology recommends, but still according to Torah?”
