The Second Russian Shabbaton of the Pacific Northwest took place last weekend, under the auspices of Rabbi Yechezkel and Ora Rapoport, co-directors of the Chabad of the Pacific Northwest Russian Program.
More than 140 people from Russian-speaking Jewish communities, from as far away as Alberta, Canada and California, attended the event.
Featured speakers included Rabbi Hirsch Rabiski, spiritual leader or Maon Noam network in Ontario, Canada, Mrs. Miriam Rabin, author and therapist based in Toronto, Canada, Rabbi Sholom Ber and Mrs. Chaya Elishevitz, Shluchim in Bellevue, WA. Ms. Shimona Rapoport, student at Bais Chomesh High School in Toronto, ON, led the program for children of all ages.
Wonderful meals were prepared by Mr. Zelig Mandel of Monsey, NY.
The retreat offered participants a weekend of spiritual experience and learning, in a beautiful setting at the Semiahmoo Resort, Golf & Spa in Blaine, WA.
“The real test of any annual program is the second event,” said Rabbi Rapoport. “We are very happy that our second Shabbaton was even better then the first one. We are looking forward to continue, with G-d’s help, this annual event for Russian-speaking Jews of Pacific Northwest,” he said.
