One of the newest and most successful seminaries for Chabad girls is building on its momentum.
Ohel Sara Seminary in Los Angeles announced that it will be expanded this coming school year, beginning Elul 5775, to include a second year program which will be in addition to its current first-year program.
This ‘Sem Bais’ option will allow girls to hold a part-time job while continuing their course of study. The course list mirrors the current seminary Aleph program, which has been highly successful, albeit on a higher level.
These classes, geared for girls that are beginning their venture into work, but are still seeking to keep up their learning, will be focused on chassidus and the practical applications of the teaching to chinuch and raising a family.
“We hope to provide an option for students looking to stay in a high-quality learning environment while managing jobs in shlichus, chinuch, or wherever their talents may be,” said Hadassa Spalter, Director of Ohel Sara Seminary.
She said single young Chabad women are looking for academic stimulation and are seeking an environment that will inspire while also awarding them credits that can be used later on.
Ohel Sara has been working with their students to make the most of their time, utilizing the classes as a jump start toward their long-term academic goals.
This past year, over 85% of their graduates are involved in the chinuch field with more than half being able to apply the courses they earned at Ohel Sara to continue their education at a seminary environment.
