Dear residents of Crown Heights,
The Yom Tov of Pesach is fast approaching, and we all know how much needs to get done in and around our homes, including all the shopping.
Most of you are familiar with the name Devorah Scheiner.
Sometime before Pesach, there are crowds of women outside her home, waiting their turn to receive a case of chicken, fish, dairy and more assorted items.
But not too many of you may be aware of the fact that her chessed extends well past all those cases of food.
Devorah is an “adopted mom” for many mothers who struggle with weekly Shabbos expenses. She doesn’t just have them collect their weekly food stuffs, or have a box of random, hopefully needed (sometimes not, because each family is unique in what they find useful) foods delivered to their homes.
Instead, she takes them on a “trip” to the appropriate stores, so that the mother can shop for the food she knows her kids will eat.
Each mother is treated with the utmost dignity and respect while being shown how to “get your money’s worth” when shopping. The trip is topped off with being treated to a hot coffee and Danish.
She does this even while undergoing surgery for her own physical health.
Mrs. Scheiner has had many surgeries, unfortunately, (most recently a series of eye surgeries, in which she had to walk around with an eye shield) but through them all, she continued her tzedakah work to help others put food on their table.
Understandably, this is a huge undertaking, as well as a huge expense.
Devorah needs to come up with $60,000 by Wednesday.
So please won’t you help her help others put food on their Seder table, so that they too can enjoy Yom Tov?
YOU can make this happen.
You can share in this great Mitzvah as well.

How would a family in need be able to receive from Devorah’s food items for Pesach?
Your one in a million, a Diamond, like your uncle used to say.
