Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have to wait for Mazal Tov wishes from the White House.
White House press secretary Josh Earnest said President Barack Obama will only be congratulating Netanyahu on his staggering and surprising win on Tuesday “in the coming days.”
U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, on the other hand, was quick to tweet the next morning: “Heartfelt congratulations to PM @Netanyahu. Looking forward to continuing the strong bond between #Israel & America.”
Asked by a reporter about the Obama administration’s lukewarm response to Netanyahu’s win, Boehner said, “Lukewarm?” and laughed heartily, according to the AP.
Boehner was the one who invited Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress last month about the danger of a nuclear Iran and the deal being crafted by the administration. Obama refused to meet Netanyhau during that visit.
An administration official who did call Netanyhau was Secretary of State John Kerry, although there was no mention of it on his Twitter page where he did report about his talks with Iran.
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) pointed out that President Obama’s congratulatory call to Turkish President Tayyip Recep Erdogan on his election victory in August 2014 lasted 45 minutes.
And despite their known disagreements, Netanyahu called to congratulate President Obama on his re-election in 2012.
Here are the tweets from those who were mensch enough to say Mazal Tov to Bibi:

i didn’t actually read this. i only read the title, but i got the point. why are we all surprised???? moshiach is coming, and we are right now in the deepest gulos. WHY IS THIS SHOCKING?????? why do we feel threaten by a nonjews opinion on the matter?? HASHEM CHOSE BIBI, NOT HUMAN BEINGS. WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RELY ON ON ANYONE! WAKE UP JEWS! CHASIDIM!
When Moishe Feiglin received more (mandates?) seats in Likud, PM Netanyahu did not go quickly to congratulate him. Check it out.
Technically, Netanyahu has not won anything but his own seat. The fact that his party has the largens number of seats dons not “win” anything, since he does not have a majority. Only when he managens to put together a stable coalition that makes up a majority will he have won the opportunity to become PM. Until that time, what would Obummer be congratulating him for?
its obama’s problem not isreal’s. let him act like baby . isreal doesnt need his congrats we’ll survive.
mazal tov bibi
what a rasha! what a naar he funded the Arabs to pull out as many votes against Bibi…did he not realize we are A: still in the month of Adar ……we know what happened to Haman in the month of Adar. B: he was using the same tactics he used here with the “folks” he shlepped out to vote for him. What made him think it would work in Israel? C: he most certainly does not have an inkling that Hashem runs the world and he sure aint!!! For all those (sadly) frum Liberals (yes there are some among our… Read more »
I am appalled by the logic or lack thereof of commentator #9. The atrocities being perpetrated on the world stage by isis including direct threats to America warrants a bold American reaction well beyond what is currently taking place there. If there was one thing we could learn from the events of seventy years ago its that when maniacal tyrants make threats we take them seriously for if not i shudder when i imagine the consequences of such naive passivity.
Netanyahu is a politician who will say anything to get votes. He’s corrupt and basically a jerk.
obama is not a good president, he is corrupt, whatever he does with isreal will of course be bad. i am very much anxious for elections in 2016
And Yishmoel and Eisav all in the same person!
but #4 is wrong. Pulling American troops out of Iraq was the smartest/only thing he got right. No one could have predicted the rise of ISIS. But going to war with ISIS was certainly a bad idea. ISIS is Iran’s problem, not America’s. Iran would be a lot more eager to give in to American demands if they were threatened with annihilation by ISIS. If he wants to rid the world of terrorists, this is a admirable goal, he should start with the Islamic State Of Palestine. As Obama supports them, he really should give up the fight on terror.… Read more »
We’re not changing anything based on his approval or lack thereof.
Truly well said #1
and totally agree with #’s 3 and 4
WE WANT AND NEED MOSHIACH NOW!!!!
BS”D
who cares- no one takes him serious
I listened to a talk show the night of the election
you would not believe the amount of goyim who called in to
praise BN – his leadership, his principles, his honesty etc.
what an enemy
He is progressively pulling down this country and the entire world. He pulled the troops out of Iraq creating the vacume that ISIS fills and he is now fostering a mid-east nuclear race. He is a modern day Haman. We need the Geula
USA reputation in the world by being the hateful person who can’t even control his own emotions to follow protocol. what a vengeful individual
There are apps that allow you to dial straight to voicemail. Maybe Obama can use that… 🙂
How Obama managed to make America’s friends into enemies, and America’s enemies into friends
