Israeli music star Gad Elbaz recently wrapped the shooting of his upcoming music video in Paris, as the French Jewish community deals with growing anti-Semitism in the country.
The film was shot in the Pletzel Jewish quarter of Paris, where many Jewish locals gathered around to watch and take part.
Music producer and the director Danny Finkelman said the video was shot in Paris in solidarity with the Jewish community there, “to show the Jews of Paris the Jews of the world are thinking of you.”
“We found the people there are literally scared to death from everything going on,” said Finkelman. “They embraced us with such open arms. They were so emotional that we chose Paris as the location for the video and not Tel Aviv or New York.”
The song is a remake of the Jewish classic Hava Nagilah, with a whole new twist, including some English lyrics, Finkelman said, but it’s the same classic recognized and loved.
The video was co-produced and choreographed by Zvika Borenstein and Aaron Orian and will be released in time for Purim, in the spirit of joy and happiness.
