The Levi Yitzchok Library is pleased to invite all women to “A Garden of Healing,” a Tu B’Shevat celebration exploring growth through kosher alternative medicine.
The event will take place in the Levi Yitzchok Library, 305 Kingston Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y., on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Admission, which includes one Chinese Auction ticket, is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased in person at the Levi Yitzchok Library or online at www.leviyitzchoklibrary.com. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the library’s sister project, the Crown Heights Community Garden.
Founded two summers ago, the CHCG is a grassroots project creating opportunity for the children of Crown Heights to experience the merging of nature and Torah lessons learned in school and at home. This can be done through picking a ripe cherry tomato and associating the correct brocha to make, attending a workshop focusing on the lessons we can learn from nature or merely digging for worms and getting dirty while exploring Hashem’s wonders in the garden.
To date, the garden has produced pounds and pounds of fresh organic produce planted and harvested by Crown Heights kids. Past workshops have included vegetable juicing, Kombucha making, Insect Discovery, Rock Painting, Sprouting, Nature walks around CH and much more! For this coming spring and summer seasons, CHCG has lots of exciting new projects and programs for kids of all ages to get involved in. Come find out more at “A Garden of Healing!”
The evening will begin with featured speaker Rabbi Manis Friedman, who will discuss holistic healing, kabbala, and chassidus in his lecture, “Holistic and Kabbalistic.” Following the lecture, a holistic health fair will give attendees the opportunity to speak with alternative health practitioners in our community, with specialties such as homeopathy, medicinal herbs, flower essences, and reflexology. Participants will enjoy free samples and discounts at each booth.
The Chinese Auction will offer free sessions with personal trainers and nutrition consultants, free yoga classes, free massage, a home garden starter kit, and more. Tickets for the auction may be purchased for $5 each, both at the event and in advance at www.leviyitzchoklibrary.com. Please contact the library with any questions about the event at (718) 778-4598 or [email protected]. If you can’t make it, email [email protected] to find out more about the CHCG and how you can volunteer starting this April!
