Rabbi Ariel Rav-Noy, a Shliach in Los Angeles, California and father of 7, passed away Wednesday, 8 Shevat, 5775.
He was 36.
Rabbi Rav-Noy passed away suddenly, leaving a shocked and grieving community, family and friends.
Rabbi Rav-Noy was assistant director of Chabad Persian Youth in Los Angeles, working with the Chabad Persian youth and children.
He was friendly, outgoing and brilliant, a family member told COLlive.
“He was a genius, he had an incredible memory,” she said. “He could tell you about any subject where it was written and by whom.”
Possessing a bubbly and outgoing personality with a loud laugh, Rav-Noy was an avid user of social media to connect to his community, keeping them informed of classes, celebrations and his thoughts, Chabad.org wrote.
In his role at Chabad Persian Youth, Rav-Noy reached out to many young Iranian Jews in the city’s high schools. He started the High Holiday High School and Youth Minyan, and would regularly visit Jewish clubs at University High School in West Los Angeles, Beverly Hills High School and Santa Monica College.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam and 7 children.
He is also survived his parents, Dr. Zev and Varda Rav-Noy, and siblings Racheli Muchnik Oxnard, CA; Avi Rav-Noy, Michy Rav-Noy and Eyal Rav-Noy, all of Los Angeles.

My heart goes out to the sweet family. The pain is just too much to bare. Ariel was one of a kind. His enthusiasm for kedusha was infinite. may hashem bring an end to this madness with the coming of moshiach now.
Unfortunately I did not know him personally but by the family picture he just looks like he was a loving father and a loving husband very sad very very sad may his dear children and his dear wife have the strength to carry-on. What can I say we are taught that whatever hashem does is for a good.

Ariel was an ish Emes. I rememebr when he would come to our house in New York, he was our very very religious cousin from Los Angeles and would ask me , so what mitzvah are we taking on today!? I would look at him and question myself quietly , that thought never really crossed my mind … until I blurted out … I’m going to start saying Baruch HaShem when you ask me how I am. His face lit up with joy! That was ariel. He pushed you to live the Torah way, Torah language. His whole life was… Read more »

Oy Ariel,
we first met in YSP what a masmid, but not just in the books, he had such a big heart, we studied again in Kfar Chabad and then we would see each other at the kinus, May moshiach come now, and his lovely family be reunited.-your dear friend Yossi Rubin
He was a real model of what a Jew is, what a compassionate human is and what an oveid Hashem is. May his family, especially his wife and children find comfort.
I was his chavruse in L.A for a few months when he was about 18 or 19 years old we spent a lot of time together he once told me test me on any rashi In the chumish bal peh. And I did and so I did. He knew it all. What friend he wa s. I met him last year more then 15 years later and he remembered every conversation we had. What a nice and true chodsid he was. May his memory be for a blessing

He should be a Melitz Yosher for his Family
Hashem- how can you?? What does such a tragedy accomplish? We will never know. just about a month ago he was visiting a friend, I was waiting near there, didn’t even know him, yet he smiled at me and struck up a conversation, in a friendly and warm way that left me in a good mood. I thought to myslef, what a nice person! Then i forgot about it until I heard the terrible news. Really really crazy- and if i’m feeling like this I cant even imagine how his family must be feeling. I hope the story brings a… Read more »

Look at everything the community is saying about this wonderful Father,Man ,Friend and Tzaddik..The Aibishter is holding him so gently now..We must learn that G-d forbid ,if H-shem does call us ,we should all be spoken of as this Great Neshoma has been….H-shem hold his family tight..
its very sad to see someone who his a good man and does what G-d wants from him dies.
G-d we had enough and now you can bring the ultimate Redeemer who ever he may be .
Ariel Rav-Noy was a friend and a high-school classmate. Every time we saw one another, we engaged in a variety of deep and entertaining conversations. But, thats not important. What is, is that he was a deeply decent person. A caring, kind, gentle and beautiful human. His untimely death will never be understood, and 7 children are left orphans today. It isn’t even something we can ever understand, rather, we simply mourn because a young man was taken from this world without any apparent reason and children are left fatherless without explanation. The Rambam states that it cannot be said… Read more »
my heart goes out to his wonderful wife and kinderlach, may the aibeshter and the rebbe look after them.
He was a tzaddik and a sweet man.
I got to know R’ Rav-Noy through FB otherwise I would not have. We’re of 2 different age groups and crowds and yet through FB we’ve become friends. He appreciated and supported my comments and we talke things through. Although I never met him in person I’m literally taking this personally. I can’t believe it and am in shock. I can only hope Lubavitch and we shluchim in particular wake up. If there’s any sort of legacy we can attribute to Ariel it’s the hope that his death won’t be in vain. I hope this starts a revolution of ahavas… Read more »
